I recall Pete Rose playing and managing the Reds 1984-1986.

In the history of MLB, there have been 221 player-managers, 59 of whom are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The dual role of player-manager was formerly a common practice, dating back to John Clapp, who performed the task for the Middletown Mansfields in 1872.

Personally, I love it. I think CTV looks great in the Vol uniform, and I want to see coach Barnes pull it off too. He would look great dressed out, although I suggest he goes all Vescovi, and puts the T shirt on beneath.

There was so much juice spitting going on in the early days coaches refused to wear their own clothes to the games.

Correct me if I'm wrong please, but way back in the day wasn't it common for a teammate to be the manager (manager of the teammates)? Maybe he'd play, maybe not, but he was an actual player that just managed the squad?

and he got OUTCOACHED...A LOT! Should have had 4 WS WINS!
Agree!!!...at least they've had a solidly above average team since Dale Murphy joined the team in 78, and now have a fantastic fan-friendly located stadium... Used to drive down from Mid Tenn in mid-70's and those teams were horrible, playing in horrible Atlanta-Fulton Co stadium...but still alot of fun for a kid.
