Well some of posters have been unhappy with lack of offensive production in recent games. Notably the Alabama series loss at home. Well the folks responsible for the coaching of hitters are now the new coaches down at Aubie U. Husband and wife now co-head coaches. So we'll see where Coack Karen goes for replacements. Will she go to former Lady Vols hitters who are coaching elsewhere? Stay tuned folks. This is not a bad gig to align with.

I didn’t care for our hitting at all most of the season. Felt like it was actually a little more aggressive toward the end of season. So many times players watched fat, slow pitches down the middle on the first ball.

Who cares if it’s the first pitch? If it’s a meatball send it to spaghetti city!!

Ahh the spicy ending...want more Parmesan? At times seemed just waiting for one pitch then..poof it never came and advantage to the opposing pitcher.

We need to hire someone that can recruit and teach hitting. Go get Oklahoma’s hitting coach. Those girls hammer the ball all the time. We better have enjoyed our two year regular season run because with Texas and Oklahoma coming to the SEC, our competition just got a lot harder. We NEED TO HIRE A GREAT HITTING COACH AND RECRUIT SOME BIG GIRLS THAT CAN HAMMER THE BALL. If not, we will become second fiddle in women’s softball.

News Flash EVERYBODY is second fiddle to OU. Also their hitting coach is JT Gasso; the head coaches son. So hiring him is not happening. Good thought though.

He’s making over 190K, Malveaux was making 160K. I’m sure he would listen if someone made a better offer that OU wouldn’t match.

I also think we need more speed on the team. Alabama‘s speed was one of the reasons they beat us and scored any runs against our pitching. However, most of the runs they scored against us late in the season were unearned. We need to clean up our defense and base running.

Time to upgrade assistants. Take advantage of the opportunity to teach our young ladies on a more advanced level. We appreciate the Malveaux’ for their time on The Hill and wish them well on the plains.

Doesn’t matter what CKW does at this point. Her good years of winning the SEC regular season title are over. She could never get the most out of her players to win the tournament, so we are probably going to be middle of road in the gauntlet of what the SEC has become moving forward. I hope I’m wrong but probably not if we are all being honest.

We'll see for sure with #4 recruiting class coming in 4 Lady Vols .

I don’t think the LVs are that far away from a national title.

Gasso and Oklahoma will force the rest of the conference to seriously upgrade their softball programs.

So adding two teams that they will not even play on an annual basis is going to somehow move Tennessee from a program that wins back to back championships to one that will be middle of the pack? How exactly do you come to that conclusion?

The fact that Florida did what it did against Oklahoma in the World Series and Texas A&M, the third place team in the SEC, pushed Texas to the brink in their super regional makes me think that it will be Oklahoma in Texas that have a rough transition, rather than any of the existing SEC schools.

You can be disappointed or even angry that they didn’t make the World Series this year. That’s a fair assessment. But to act like a program that has won the toughest conference in softball the last two years, and was one of the top three teams in the country for for the entire regular season is going to slip back and become some kind of mid-level poverty program because they have to play three tougher games every year is complete and utter nonsense.

How so? What do they have that every school in the conference doesn’t already have? Part of the reason Oklahoma is Oklahoma is because they were playing against two other teams in their entire conference that actually tried to win at softball.

They always have the home field advantage at the College World Series every year.

OK, but that’s not what we were talking about here. Your post said that schools in the SEC were going to have to seriously upgrade their softball programs. What is it that they are going to have to upgrade? What do you think that Oklahoma has that SEC schools do not?

Well said! With that said, you better enjoy your last two regular season titles. CKW’s run at UT has just about run its course. I have rooted for the Weekly’s forever, but I think it’s about time for them to go enjoy the lake and put down the clipboard.
