Really?..it literally tells you how many earned runs the staff averages giving up.It’s not a great metric….. there are much better metrics to utilize… Our staff is doing a great job though.
My favorite that is easiest for me to find is whip….. I also like Hard Hit/Barrel %, SO/9. ERA is based on luck a lot of the time. An example is Elder for the Braves…. I had him on my fantasy team most of the year…..His ERA and stats were really good but you could tell that it was not going to last based on his other metrics… In the playoffs… He gave up 6 runs to the Phillies and this year…. his era is over 6. @Ulysees E. McGillWhat is a great metric for pitchers? Pretty much not allowing runs is the goal.
