Yah. That's another issue I have with some cops. If they don't feel as though you grovel enough, they all but abuse law to make you pay. That's neither service nor protection.

Since there are three sides to all stories I will simply say given all the situations I can imagine stress was high on both sides. Sucks it happened. Cops live in a world of hindsight blame, celebs do too.

The article reports that it was initially a confusing and chaotic exchange. The first step of de-escalation is generally pausing and seeking clarity.

Seems like as soon as Scottie stopped, the officer could have said, "Hey, I told you to stop. Where are you going?" Scottie: "I'm sorry. I was confused. My name is Scottie Scheffler. I'm playing in the tournament and need to get to my tee time." Officer. "OK. I understand. We're stopping you because a pedestrian was hit by a shuttle. Please be patient and we'll try our best to get you to your tee time."

Since when is it assault to have someone jump on your vehicle? Their action is attributed as your intention?

Sounds like a clear case of assault and fleeing the scene to me. Plain old hit and run.

If you're a cop that can't operate in stressful situations, you have no business being a cop.

If the facts as reported are true, this was a major blunder, and several police officers had the opportunity to hit the pause button and give time for level heads to prevail. And when it comes to our personal rights and the fair application of laws for/on the citizens, hindsight blame is very important, else we end up with brownshirt thugs and tyranny. Again, if you can't operate with level heads, sans ego, in stressful situations, get back in the coal mines.

If the facts as reported aren't true, I hope the truth comes out. Like I said, if Scottie tried to run over a police officer to get to a tee time, then lock him up. Otherwise, it sounds like an ego-and-adrenaline-fueled officer escalated from a slow moving car in the median, and a bunch of other officers failed to slow things down. And it sounds like a police officer has lied in order to fabricate more charges against a free citizen.

I imagine the behind-the-scenes will look similar to every angry police captain scene from every action movie since "Lethal Weapons" and "Last Action Hero".

I hope there's video of the stop. If the officer jumped on a slow moving car and then charged Scottie for assault, then he should be fired for filing a false report. If by some chance Scottie actually assaulted the officer, he should do time. Otherwise...

That's my thought as well. I suspect at least one officer will be reprimanded, the police will drop all charges and spin it as a 'sad misunderstanding'.

I first tried Pals a year and a half ago, at age 65. Me and wife both love it, for what it is, a fast food restaurant. And nothing against Cookout, but we both like Pals more than Cookout.

Cant assaulting an officer mean just about anything? I mean, if the officer is rigid, young, and or just a deek. Could just as easily pull a Pat Adams and Tee the guy up for breathing his oxygen.
