So about that 26th Amendment...

So it was originally OK to have people that had all the skin in the game to go to war, but have no say in voting?
So about that 18th Amendment…..
We repealed prohibition. We can repeal one establishing a voting age.
Also when the 26th Amendment was passed 18 year olds weren’t confused over what a woman was. Face it, 18 year olds now have the maturity of a preteen from my generation (X)

Kids these days don't know what this was for. I patiently explain to them that it was a safe way to light the fuses on bottle rockets launched from a moving vehicle

Bottle rockets...usually Black Cats..were a big part of our tween/early teen years. We had so much fun shooting them at eachother and others. High priority right up until the 1st time most of us were old enough to be able to get alone with girls...by any means necessary.

Do you not see dumbassery on both sides?

The Left:
1. Used to be the anti-war party in the 1960s, now are the pro-MIC party
2. The Right used to be the pro-Constitution party, but now want to clamp down free speach if it goes against Israel
3. It was perfectly reasonable for the BATF to call for a 45 ceasefire in Waco after they ran ot of ammo. But If The palestinians call for a ceasefire, then that is worth of Congressional condemnation
4. So BLM and ANTIFA can burn down cities in 2020 and have the police mostly stand down while honest American business owners lose everything they have. But in 2024, if these same folks protest Israel, then we need to call the police and the National Guard to end the protests.

You people are so twisted and delusional in your idealogical prisons that you don't see that Americans are the enemy of the US Govt and other foreign countries. So they can arrest these "mpstly peaceful" protesters on college campuses/campi, but they couldn't lift a ******* finger in 2020 when ANTIFA and BLM were burning down cities?

You people are dumb as hell.
I sure do. I’ve noted it multiple times in prior posts, Ras. You’re coming at me with that “you people” again. And why are you coming unglued on me when I was responding to a post about warnings about not eating a coat hangar cover? I mean, if they gotta provide that warning, we are doomed.

We used to play Army in the woods in our neighborhood with all kinds of fireworks…super smart. Another kid and I were “patrolling” along this creek and came face to face with the “enemy kid on the other side of the creek. All three of us were trying to light our “grenades” (firecrackers) as fast as we could. My buddy got his lit first and threw it across the creek at this other kid. He tried to lean out of the way and ended up catching that firecracker between his shoulder and his ear! It went off and that kid fell to the ground screaming, his neck was black from the powder burn and his ear was ringing. Of course we sprung into medic mode and started putting cold creek water on that burn mark. Jeeez, what we used to do. He ended up being mostly fine. It is a wonder none of us got killed or at a minimum maimed or paralyzed.

Prohibition was one of the greatest tools for transferring wealth. Prior to enactment, most of the federal tax revenue was from Liquor tax, as a result income tax was implemented

And who's fault is that?

I had just gotten off the phone with my sister last night as we were talking about the same subject (young people). Again, you judge a tree by its fruit, so if young people are dumb as hell, then WTF does that say about the generation that raised them?

It says the generation which raised the younger is guilty of bias. They (we) look at our best qualities where we are in our maturity and compare that to kids. We also do not remember our youth accurately and compare an idealistic version of it to the current youth (yutes?).
There is Egyptian papyrus dating 1000 of years by parents and grandparents lamenting the dumb, lazy, irresponsible youth of the next generation.

OK boomer.
Wear the label Boomer proudly, JxnVol. The DinkinFlicka. We were the last generation with privilege of:
--Being able to walk to and from school in safety
--Having real playgrounds to have real fun with dangerous but thrilling equipment. Without pedo creeps hanging around.
--Could play stick ball in the streets, barefoot on hot summer days, with drivers trying intentionally run us down.
--Play outside til dark, riding bikes, chasing each other, climbing trees without an armed neighbor shooting at us.
--Were mostly fit because we got natural exercise instead of growing blob-fat from playing video games on a sofa.
--Could buy a giant babe Ruth candy bar for a nickle.
--Pick and eat roadside sweet blackberries that grew all over the place.
--Enjoyed safely drinking water from a water hose.
--Went on summer vacation in the family station wagon, camping almost anywhere without fear to save money spent on motels.
--Had nearby streams we could fish and swim in without worrying about flesh-eating bacteria or amoebae.
--The free love hippie era
Those who mock boomers will never know the thrill, safety, and privilege of enjoying these experience, poor things. Too bad the generation that followed didn't appreciate things like Earth Day and other ways we tried to alter awareness to take care of the only planetary home we have. Long live boomers!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet chain email.

My favorite part is how millennial invented bacteria in freshwater as though giardia magically didn't exist until 1980.

Just curious, was it drinking from garden hoses or getting punched in the face that fueled the boomer's expertise in growing up and buttf***ing the economy?
