2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Getting Awaka back is huge. His per 40 numbers are insane. Sure, he needs to cut back on his fouls but that can be coached. We are currently not in contention for anyone better than Awaka.

Quit please. I’m tired of hearing about his 40 numbers.

How about he makes it to 20+ minutes or let’s hope he doesn’t foul first

Lost in all of this is the fact we need to find a rim protector to replace that role for Aidoo, I heard Igor has that in his bag can anybody confirm?

If that can be coached, why did his fouls nearly double this year with only one extra game? Sorry, but this is pie in the sky, wishful thinking. We need a guy we can count on and who can give us more consistent production. Hope I'm wrong, but I suspect we'll be complaining about his fouls and not being able to stay on the floor again next year.

Dude. Who can we realistically get that is better than Awaka?
Well, there's Great Osobor, Brandon Garrison, Clifford Omoruyi, Amari Williams, Andrew Carr, Cameron Corhern, Baba Miller, Jared Coleman Jones, or Robbie Avilla, Heck, even Moussa Cisse has comparable numbers. There were several interesting ones that are now gone too like Lynn Kidd or Josh Cohen who were not high-profile centers but could have helped.

FYP also Gainey is like Bowden or Mcrae without the defense. While Gainey is not a -defender he is a meh defender. While Bowden and Mcrae were +defenders. IF offense is gonna be your calling card it has to be consistent if its not you gotta be a beast on D. That's Gaineys downfall. On most teams he'd be a heavy minute player but in Barnes's scheme, he is a net loss because Barnes values at least average defense above all. I think if we could cover him, Gainey playing heavy minutes could work and he could average 16-20 a game. e is that kinda guy that needs minutes.. but we cant because his 16-20 on the court gives up 18-24 to whoever he's supposed to be guarding.
Like Knecht, I feel that Gainey made big strides defensively during the season. He’s plenty athletic enough to be an above average defender and there’s no reason to think he won’t continue to improve practicing along side ZZZ and Mashack. JMO

Not being negative, it’s just true. I’m not saying we can’t land him, but he likes us for two completely different reasons. If he chooses us, it’s because he sees a much clearer path to playing time. Nothing wrong with that being the hook to get him.
I was just digging at you. Nasty habit of mine. Still, reality is often perceived as being nega here, but it's a good look for you. You wear it well if I do say so.

Fact - only fouled out of 3 games this year and 2 of those were against Purdue. He could have likely averaged 20 minutes a game this season if he had been allowed 5 fouls by CRB.

Depth is kinda a big deal in basketball that’s why we are still recruiting other big guys…

And we are still recruiting other 4’s and 5’s…Igor can play 4 and even 5 in a small ball lineup. Roster isn’t set
