2024 Transfer Portal Thread

Gainey had 2 huge 3's in that Purdue game that if he didn't make likely gets us run out of the gym in the 2nd half. He's not perfect, but he's an ideal role player who can still improve. I wouldn't want him to start, but he still has significant value as a bench guy, IMO. I was harsh on him early in the season, but he was a solid addition last off-season and we'll need his experience moving forward.
He can also play 1-3 to an extent which is valuable. Better shooter than he showed IMO too

Okpara played HS ball in Chattanooga until his senior year and he now has a brother playing for Chattanooga Silverdale.
Shoutout my Silverdale Seahawks haha. Been fun to see Kennedy Okpara develop the last four years. Going to have to take a step this next year as we're losing a lot from a Final Four team

I think we are prepared to counter Baylor on Igor. I don’t think we can affect Tyson with just NIL. UNC is pitching a “historic team” story, and that probably resonates with a kid from NC. Can’t do anything about Lanier right now, but I hope that doesn’t turn into a free for all.
Sounds like BS to me. From what I understand that’s not how Spyre operates. They don’t play that game. They present you with a package and that’s your offer.

I mean the guy averaged 12 and 8 here. That’s not entirely true. And nobody in the conference right now has an Edey or Bacot.
I guess. Just seemed like he'd get 20 and 10 against weaker opponents and disappear vs anyone with a physical big. Tolu Smith for example

I get the frustration with Aidoo, but to turn on him like he wasn't the 4th best big in the SEC this season is wild.

4th in Total Rebounds (3rd among bigs)
3rd in Blocks
7th in Total Points among Forwards

Broome, Tolu, & Samuel are really the only bigs that put up better numbers per game.

Yep. We don’t have one of those guys. So good chance he could stick it to us if he went there. Need him to go to Baylor.

So he plays better against worse players and worse against better players. That’s what most players do lol
True. It would have been nice for him to at least compete in the 2 biggest games if his career rather than play so badly he got himself benched. But you're right, we will miss his production for sure. Just annoying he led the coaches to believe he was good, if that's indeed what happened.

I appreciate what Aidoo did for us and won't down him as a player. But he's just another dude to me now, don't care one way or the other about him. It's funny, I'm not sure if others feel the same, but I consider Knecht a VFL with his 1 season. I will not consider Aidoo a VFL even though he gave us 3. Same for say Hooker or Milton (VFLs) and someone like Ty Chandler/Tyler Baron (not VFLs).

I would've been fine having him back on the team. The game against Purdue wasn't great, but Edey was a pretty unique challenge.

Now, if he told our staff that everything was fine, surprised them by entering the portal, and ends up at Kentucky ... he will be persona non grata here forever. He's entitled to do whatever he wants, but that'll be a big yikes.

I could care less about all those numbers. After 5 of the last 6 seasons getting to 25+ wins we have established that we will are a top tier regular season program.

All I want is to win in March. Good riddance Aidoo. He didn’t even compete in those last few games. He was a liability. He basically just laid down and took his whipping against Purdue. Give me a halfway decent big with a sack and I’ll call it an upgrade for the tournament next year.
