Personally, I thought Holly and Kellie were both given too long, given the standards and expectations of the program. As you point out, powerhouse programs don't stay that way when they're neglected. Many people don't realize how much recruiting has fallen off. In-state players do not want to come to UT. Top talent like Rhyne Howard don't even want to talk to UT. Even legacy players look elsewhere. Kellie had strong headwinds with recruiting and NIL. I don't think keeping her long-term was the right choice, but I, like many, think UT needed to fix internal issues before blowing it all up.

Anyway, it's been fun conversing with you on here. Think I've overstayed my welcome, though. Seems like a good time to step away.

It’s 2024 but a secret gay sex tape is still just that. Why hide your orientation? I think it would be a bad look to recruits and their families if your coach was hiding something as significant to their personality as their sexual orientation and going outside their marriage to fulfill such needs. It’s kind of like, “well what else are you hiding or not being true to yourself and others about Mr secret double life?” If you could do that to your family certainly you could deceive a kid you’re using to keep your job. Easier said than done coming from a hetero man talking about a stigma riddled and discriminatory sports environment, but I’d just rather my kid play for someone who wasn’t hiding anything so core to their existence as that. Not saying I wouldn’t feel bad for their situation, but I just don’t need my kid surrounded by such drama from the person you’re basically entrusting their livelihood and development to, on top of the cutthroat and highly public nature of D1 sports.

Also, what eventually happened to petrino? Exactly. Some PR nightmares are not so easy to recover from.

Nope. I cannot imagine a situation where the hire and strong NIL funds are not tied together. All it takes is a handful of big bucks folks to write checks.

Aidoo had UNC and Kansas in his ear last offseason. Awaka had Pitino at Saint Johns trying to get him too. We’re losing a lot of other pieces so that probably makes their decision to leave a bit easier. Looks like a big rebuild now.

Don’t put words in my mouth. The condemnation of cargo pants, inappropriate camo adornment, and male open toed shoe usage does not correlate or otherwise transitorily advocate for the use of skinny pants, or whatever elastic cuffs are.

Wear your cargo pants all you want. Just don’t come ploppin your lawn chair on my driveway while you’re wearing them.

I think we'll manage fine in basketball, either way. Not going to go all Chicken Little. It's really too soon to say whether this ends up as a positive, a negative, or somewhere in between.

The freakout in the basketball forum that NIL and the portal are the end of the world is even more worrisome. The people who are demanding all sorts of new rules and regulations and death to the "Wild West" need to answer the question of who the just determiner of violations is supposed to be, and why they think the return of the under-the-table bag game is to our advantage.

I think, after DW announced - another poster posted that they were going to get the best of the best or something like that and set expectations…that’s where that’s coming from.

I get the idea of divine inspiration, but doesn't answer the question of writers. Or even merely interpretation, which no one can agree on.

Objectivity or agreement amongst humans is impossible, so who writes..and their self and history...definitely matters.

Did god choose only Jewish males to inspire? Or did they choose it and define their writings as the only valid ones? Could councils many years later have chosen to leave other writings out? Of course that's very possible. We'll never know all the writings from those many years that were found and not chosen.

Even more interesting through the angle of Islam. A mixture of times and writers...or lineage at least. Still males, but of different middle eastern origins. Early Christians chose their bible outline, but arguably did not have input into the initial writings, as far as we know.

Meanwhile Judaism intermixed centuries of rabbinical teachings to go par with the "OT" and seen as its equal. Varying from orthodox to reformists. Not sure if female perspectives in reform. Certainly not in orthodoxy.

All the same god, but many different directions of writers, albeit still all male afaik.

DEVO, you know so much to know so little. And you always leave out faith and Divine inspiration. And of course there were no female writers because Eve was deceived not Adam…Women are more easily led astray because we are emotional creatures. That is a good thing in a lot of cases. I’m extremely happy to be totally feminine.
