2024 Transfer Portal

I’m skeptical of this coach but she’s starting to grow on me. Hopefully she’ll exceed all expectations! Elite athletes will come not knowing the minutes they’ll get as long as they are winning. Several players go sit behind players because they know their time will come and that they will compete for titles. Winning can cure a lot.
I would normally agree, but now with the transfer portal it has changed. Playing time and money trump winning sometimes.

I didn’t love her recruiting answer for this reason. The money made playing bball in college might be the biggest salary some players ever see. And some players just want to be on the court a lot or to start.

the leader in minutes played at Marshall averaged more minutes per game than the leader at South Carolina. We should be able to get players.

You need to compare outcomes of games. The SC leader played in the 35-to-39-minute range in the big games that generally were closer. She played less against teams where they were winning big or in games where she was in foul trouble.

Minutes played as well as being perceived as a leader is important to some players wanting to make a name for themselves to play after college and to also improve their NIL status.

A player like Clark or Reece is not coming here to sit on the bench every 2 minutes.

I see. Just a magical standard that suddenly appears for the new coach that didn't apply to the old coaching staff. Got it.
Actually you got nothing.
Given Coach C’s system of a lot of subbing that is a legitimate question. Will a top kid get enough minutes to put up the numbers that will get them recognition? It is about her system. It has nothing to do with Kellie nor is it a criticism. It is strictly a question about whether Coach C’s system, which worked great in D2 and a mid-major situation will work as well when the best players have personal goals like being an AA and playing in the WNBA.

She plays her best players the most

It’s not a true 5 in 5 out…

I've played in this defensive system, full-court press baseline to baseline 40 minutes of hell. It's hard to go 100% for much longer than 3 minutes at a time. Imagine trying to run a mile at a dead sprint and then shoot a 3-pointer with proficiency. Turn that into half a mile and it's doable.

It's a really fun defensive system.

Marshall's top player averaged 30 minutes/game. With slight adjustments, it could work and make the top players happy. Your starting 5 could be in for the first and last 3.5 minutes of every quarter. Based on Marshall's minutes stats, that kind of looks like her normal pattern.

If this fast-paced, breakneck speed, full court, balls to the wall brand of basketball our new head coach CKC runs is anything like the original "system" ran by coach Paul Westhead at Loyola Marymount with the likes of Hank Gathers, Bo Kimble and Tom "The Human Broom" Peabody in the late 80's early 90's, count me in!

From 1988-1990 LMU averaged 110, 112, and 122+ points per game!! They also posted a combined winning record of 70-18. during the 3 year stretch.

If ya'll aren't familiar with the Westhead's LMU Lions days check it out. Some of the most fun and entertaining brand of basketball I ever witnessed.

Does the university pay for expenses for portal visits for the player and family members?
Does the player have a limit on how many official visits they can have?
Are portal visits normally announced by the university or are they leaked by media?

Yes they are officials. No. Leaked

Interesting Yo is looking for another PG. Are they not getting Deans back next season? She was playing great before her injury.

If Hillsman can help their offense they could be tough again next season. Still think that’s going to end up being a disaster hire though. Have a hard time seeing him comfortable playing second fiddle to Yo.

Two really big personalities can be really great and REALLY bad lol.

Instead of posting all that blah blah blah, why don't you look at the minutes players averaged at UT vs Marshall. Then you won't have to go on your rant that you obviously didn't Google to find out.
