Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Twitterverse is mentioning the possibility of Kim Caldwell (Stephen's) from Marshall as the new WBB HC.

Not proven at the D1 level yet, but has a seriously proven record at the D2 level. 217-31 record and 26-7 at Marshall this year.

Young, but seems like a very competent coach. I'd allow it.
Also very easy on the eyes.

A heads up for y'all. Actually something that one of the briefers always covers when Redstone has their annual retiree day program. Make it easy for the spouse or kids to access stuff if you are incapacitated or die. Don't do bills etc just by email or login ... get the real thing by mail. Reason: if you lose your mind (or just short term processing or memory), the spouse or kids or whoever can't manage stuff. My wife swears she paid her credit card and the joint credit card bills, but nothing was deducted from the joint checking, and I have no way to log in to the credit card account and QA whatever she did. Last month there was a penalty because she didn't pay it on time. My credit card bill, bank statements, tax stuff, IRA info, etc come by mail; she or one of the boys could always handle it if my mind left the building.

Second problem: wife told DFAS (military retirement) and banks to go paperless. Tax time is here and no 1099 and no statements with interest for accounts that don't require the IRS form. We go through this every year - normally she's pissed that she has to dig it up and I'm pissed because she keeps putting it off. This year she can't reliably follow simple instructions for things even though the long term memory and knowledge are there ... and she can't seem to find her passwords. Probably going to have to do some SWAGs, pay something, and file later ... PITA.

Not preaching ... just a word of advice. Some things are better done the old fashioned way. No need to pay bills with a check over online banking ... just make sure you get hardcopies of the bills and statements.

He was taking a stab in the dark and I was just yanking your chain.

But I'm okay with the choice. She has a damn good record and seems to recruit okay.

Time will tell as always.
I think she will bring an exciting brand of ball. I'm also happy we went outside the family for this. I was worried it would be Lawson.

My son won 1st place in bench squat and clean in his 1st powerlifting contest. Hes the 1 on the right. Hes 22 now. Competed at 165lbs. Dont remember what he cleaned but he benched 315 and squatted 450. Gets his masters degree from Liberty in December at 23yo. Proud of him.

Edit: that's my nephew and his lifting partner on the left. He won 1st in something for his weight class too. Hes 18. Proud of him too he's a good kid. Don't want to ever seem proud. These are obviously not my accomplishments, I just work here. They are both good kids though and much better than I have ever deserved. My daughter is now doing dual enrollment too so hopefully in 4 or 5 years I wont have any kids in college anymore lol. I highly recommend getting as many hours as possible of undergrad crap out of the way during HS if yall are like us and dont have a lot of money.

I heard the Calipari news in the Philippines from a random stranger who started talking to me because of my Tennessee shirt at the furniture store. He was super excited. Get to the bar a few hours later and it is breaking news on ESPN. The random stranger heard it this morning, Philippines time, from a friend in Kentucky (he was from Kentucky)

wild moves.

The chain of events that lead to Kentucky Basketball losing their coach is pretty wild.

SMU fires their coach, and hires away USCw head coach. USCw hires away Arkansas's HC. Arkansas tries to hire Ole Miss and Kansas State's head coach and got turned down. Then calls up Calipari and gets him.

Wild to me that they were turned down by Ole Miss and Kansas State coaches, but was able to hire away Kentucky's head coach. I know there was some bad blood going on in Lexington, but still.
