preposterous. NFL QBs come from all levels of the collegiate football ranks. UT produced Manning and little else.Well out of Jake Heaps top five Cal, BYU, and Washington don't really produce NFL Caliber quarterbacks. That only leaves Tennessee and LSU. The only diffrence is Tennessee has more coaches with NFL experince then LSU does.
Unless Scroggins leaves camp a Vol, I believe we are going a different direction. Heaps is UW/BYU and I think he goes to Washington. Like I said previously, if he does go to BYU it won't be primarily for his faith but for prolific stats and Heisman attention later on. I just kinda of find it funny how much emphasis is being placed on the three QB's that are in the limelight first and it's either them or we suck kinda mentality for most if we don't land one or two of them.

The reason it's either them or we suck is because the talent drop off behind the "name" guys is tremendous. If Kiffin wanted to bring in an average QB, he could have done it in the last class. They are looking for an impact player.
USC is the school that most concerns me with Scroggins.
I just find it laughable that we have to get one of those three guys though. There are other talents out there, and honestly this is a REALLY down year for QB's. I don't know if they will chance taking a big name and possibly scare off someone for later. I just think it's too early to be giving up on the QB search if one of these guys don't commit. Let's just see how things pan out for June Camps and see if they evaluate someone they believe to be better than the Big Three.
That's how you can tell who just started following recruiting this year.
I want Scroggins bad (and I think he is ours to lose) but there are a lot of other fish in the QB sea right now.

Dude, you can only put off getting a QB for so long and I think looking at having one scholarship QB on the roster next year would create a sense of urgency at the position. They aren't just going to take anyone just to get a name guy next year. They want guys that can play. This staff will get it done. Scroggins and Hendrix are both very realistic possibilities. Some of you forget the recruiters we have on this staff. They won't rest until they get the guy they want.
I think that has been overblown. It has less to do with talent dropoff and a lot to do with the amount of exposure. Bortles has all the upside of Hendrix but just hasn't had the attention, for instance.
IMO Heaps and Scroggins are the "impact" players, because they are our only QB targets that could possibly play as freshmen. I think Hendrix has lots of upside but there are plenty of other QBs in this class with tons of upside. So really I'm hoping to land either Heaps or Scroggins this summer. But if that doesn't happen I won't be too worried because I'm not sure either could beat out Stephens next year, so it won't be a big deal if we take a few QB recruits who need a developmental year or two.
Bortles is not a starter at this level in the SEC. There aren't that many of those guys in this class. I don't think you guys realize there really isn't a star guy in this QB class outside of the names we are all regurgitating on this board night and day. I've seen a lot of film and no one comes close to the talent of Scroggins/Heaps/Hendrix out of the uncommitted guys.
Going JuCo is a real possibility. I can tell you for definite certain that the coaches do not like the options at QB outside of the guys they have already offered.
This class has an entire season of football left to play. Scroggins could go to the shitter and Hendrix could put up Heapsian numbers for all we know. It's too early to say the QB talent is down all the way across the board. There are guys that are (eventual) SEC starter material not named Heaps, Scroggins, or Hendrix. What if Scroggins and Hendrix were 3* instead of 4*, which could have easily happened with Rivals' notoriously finicky initial evaluations. Then it would be Heaps or bust for the same people that are Heaps/Scroggins/Hendrix or bust.
I don't think the coaches completely hate their options outside of who we offered. They've just offered the first choices. A lot of the other QB recruits haven't even been evaluated extensively yet because of this. The staff is waiting to see what happens with the first choices and waiting to fully evaluate and offer the rest at camp, so they can concentrate their efforts on the spectrum of recruits instead of evaluating 60 QBs.
