Myself and many others have been feasting on this piece of info but in fast breaking stories, erroneous info gets floated or misreported. That appears to be the case in MMC's original report that Kellie Harper could have stayed on if she had accepted a change in her assistant ranks. In her updated stories, MMC had subtly retracted that claim and now reports:
Harper was told of White's decision on Monday – the same day her buyout dropped from $1 million a year for four years to $500,000 a year over the same time period – and an afternoon intended to become one-on-one player meetings about the offseason became a team meeting by the administration to relay the news of Harper's exit to the players. Harper wasn't provided any options to stay and was told the program would pursue a different direction.

I am giving this story its own thread just because this misreport cast Kellie in a really bad light.

I retract all my speculations about Danny White being in a scramble mode...

Just in principle, if Danny White has to meddle in a coaches staff, then the AD may be the problem. Glad that isn't so.

Why did Maria originally say that there was a path forward and then retract it. Was she asked to take that out? That is a pretty specific claim to get wrong.
If the original story is correct that seems to be to me more damaging to DW than Kellie. Either he would have been gauging interest while still planning on Kellie staying or he thought Kellie was staying and got a big surprise. So who knows if he has any idea about the interest level of other coaches.

If there is one thing I think we’ve seen about Danny White, it’s that he doesn’t have scramble mode.

Thanks for the info. I will say that Maria's misinformation made it all the way to USA Today according to my "tweet" (I refuse to use the new name)

I’ve heard a lot directed at him this season but wasn’t sure if you meant LV fans were blaming him, or what exactly they were piling on about? I hadn’t heard that. I’m not on social media so maybe that why.

Sorry I didn;t realize you didn't know. Really doesn't help to keep repeating the debunked rumor related to KJH firing. Maria started it, took it down and half arse retracted. Those eager to dance on Jon Harper's grave had a field day around here for a bit bc apparently Jon's presence was the foundational sin. That was about it.

Oh I see. Gotcha. Thanks. I wasn’t following.

One thing I am excited about is having an outsider come in and some of the LV “insiders” (who aren’t as much insiders as they thought I guess) will then be outsiders and no longer feel like they have exclusive rights to the program. Not necessarily talking about MC, but those she seems to lean on for info.
