Well yeah, but that is awful for the sport. To be fair the next 10 national champs will come from between the two conferences. Likely the entire championship game itself
Yup, my understanding is it goes back to the 80s and, as with most major changes in CFB, was due to SCOTUS.Plenty of great coaches before Saban, and they weren't paid millions to coach a game. When the schools and the networks and all the talking heads made football all about the money, that's when football started down this path. You can't rake in obscene amounts of money off the blood, sweat, and tears of young kids then cut them out. Would I prefer football be like it once was? Absolutely. But it goes much further back than NIL.
You’re comparing two different situations as if they were the same. You hire an office manager? Lower threshold of failure and there will be plenty of suitable replacements. You don’t get a Saban to jump from the NFL without guarantees in a CONTRACT. Hire enough Mike Duboses or Mike Shulas and YOU don’t get the chance to make another hire. Blink when you get this.Lol
I dont have problems honestly
Our societys mindset is so ****ed up thinking you should/deserve to get paid bc you were bad enough at your job to get fired
They must really be expecting a significant drop off in Tuscaloosa and t looks like they'll do anything to keep bama in the playoffs and somewhat relevant. I'd say due to their forecasted trajectory, expect a jump to 36 teams in 2028.BREAKING: The SEC and B1G have begun preliminary discussions to expand the College Football Playoff to 24 teams, starting in 2027.
