@peaygolf chairs the search committeeWhere does Austin Peay keep finding these coaches, the douchebag store?
Green absolutely did a great job.Pearl basically showed the admin and university heads that we could be a football school AND basketball could benefit and succeed with more support. It paved the way for us to land a guy like Rick Barnes, but I also think if Jerry Green had gotten the same level or support that Pearl and Barnes did people would have been talking about him in the same sort of way.
Maybe it was just a really good era for in-state talent or something... but to land Tony Harris (Memphis, TN), Vincent Yarbrough (Cleveland, TN), Ron Slay (Nashville, TN), & Marcus Haislip (Lewisburg, TN) is pretty crazy considering how bad the program was after Houston & O'Neill eras. Green shows up and has 4 straight 20 win seasons and 4 straight NCAA appearances. No coach (not even Pearl) has won at the same % he did since. For Buzz Peterson to inherit a team with Yarbrough, Haislip, Slay, & Higgins and then win just 15 games is the biggest fumble of any coach in UT history in my opinion (of any sport too).
How many years has there been conference tournaments? Looks like everyone would accept it, they're not going away..And they absolutely screw over teams that EARNED that spot instead of rewarding a team of either lucky hot or outright yearlong lazy sandbagging pukes that didn't show up to play every night.
Alabama would be jealous!Vietnam also has this:

On channel 61 in Chattanooga, right before the Anthem, they used to play this little film with a jet fighter pilot flying and with a voice over of a poem called "High Flight"...even as a elementary kid that film gave me goosebumps and made me emotional.Yep, and more often than not, it was the last program of the day. The flag would pop up on the screen and they played the national anthem. The station would then go off the air overnight.
Fair, but then we shouldn't have football conference championship games either. They're simply a 1 game tournament. Then don't play a season
HEY. That looks like my neighborhood.Vietnam also has this:

What he meant was..."Now that everybody can pay, and I don't have a cheat and pay players under the table with impunity card, my players wanted the real money that NIL deals can afford them instead of the relative peanuts they got in the under the table bagman system.Nick Saban: Alabama Players' Lack Of 'Class' Contributed To Retirement
From Andrew McCarty MSN
Saban was "disappointed" by the lack of "class" from Alabama players following the team's loss to Michigan in the playoff.
"I want to be clear that wasn't the reason, but some of those events certainly contributed," Saban said. "I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn't do it, and then showing your [expletive] and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that's not who we are and what we've promoted in our program."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Really Nick? After a loss you excused one of your players punching a young woman in the head as she ran by him because "he was scared."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I thought we could have a [expletive] of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I'm going to play because they're thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?" he said. "Our program here was always built on how much value can we create for your future and your personal development, academic success in graduating and developing an NFL career on the field.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Value in your future" Really? Keeping them broke and with few options while others make millions off of them? Yeah, it was time for you to go.
Depends on where he goes. He certainly has the talent, but some NFL teams really just do not know how to effectively run the ball anymore, and some of the ones that do, do it by committee.I think Wright is going to be one of the top RBs in the NFL in 5 years. Kid works and has the tools. Someone is going to be very happy with him.
