I agree with all of that. But my point is, the object is to win, whether that's through recruiting, development, or X's & O's. Butch did that much better than Dooley. It's weird that people even have this debate. Dude gave Tennessee its best moments between Fulmer and Heupel. Yet you'd think he was worse than Dooley and Pruitt. He wasn't. And that's not debatable...because the records say so.I think his point was that Dooley is competent and knows football and the sport recognizes that. He's not a head coach, and that's fine. Neither is Rodney Garner.
Butch is not competent. He's not a football mind. And he's not a high quality person imo. There's a reason he couldn't get an actual assistant role anywhere. Arkansas State is going to fire him in the next couple of years. His success at Tennessee was recruiting some great players. Namely, recruiting Josh Dobbs. But his teams did and always will underachieve.
52-49 broke his a$$, he knew in that moment the "tide" was turningEvery single word of that was a lie. He seen the writing on the wall and his advantage was gone.
The 2022 South Carolina team snuck up on us because they were trash on a stick until our game. This South Carolina team is fighting for a title — they aren’t sneaking up on anyone. Totally different circumstances.BVS kicking in for tonight. Don't like that it's away... and last year we were fighting for the top four spots and had to go to SC in football.
On the opposite end of the humor meter, a friend of my mom's was under the impression that LOL meant "lots of love." Didn't go over as well when a co-worker's loved one passed away and she sent her LOL.I really need to thank whomever told my 80 year old mom that WTF means, “wow that’s fantastic.”
Her texts are so much more entertaining now
What a crock. He saw the handwriting on the wall and knew when the getting was good.Nick Saban: Alabama Players' Lack Of 'Class' Contributed To Retirement
From Andrew McCarty MSN
Saban was "disappointed" by the lack of "class" from Alabama players following the team's loss to Michigan in the playoff.
"I want to be clear that wasn't the reason, but some of those events certainly contributed," Saban said. "I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn't do it, and then showing your [expletive] and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that's not who we are and what we've promoted in our program."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Really Nick? After a loss you excused one of your players punching a young woman in the head as she ran by him because "he was scared."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I thought we could have a [expletive] of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I'm going to play because they're thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?" he said. "Our program here was always built on how much value can we create for your future and your personal development, academic success in graduating and developing an NFL career on the field.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Value in your future" Really? Keeping them broke and with few options while others make millions off of them? Yeah, it was time for you to go.
This discussion is all pointless because they were all horrible head coaches. I wish we could just say they were equally bad and leave it at that.I agree with all of that. CBJ had a football mind, he just couldn't see the forest for the trees, always getting caught up in the small details. Dooley focused on locker room hygiene and couldn't find a single player capable of fielding a punt. Jones had several big recruits. Dooley skipped OL recruiting for a year. Both were frustrating at times. Dooley was worse.I think his point was that Dooley is competent and knows football and the sport recognizes that. He's not a head coach, and that's fine. I don’t think butch had a football mind. I think he lucked up and had some coaches around him who had good football minds at his first two stops that he brought to Knoxville. When those folks were gone his idiot mind was on full display. Don’t disagree with anything you said about Dooley.CBJ had a football mind, he just couldn't see the forest for the trees, always getting caught up in the small details. Don't worry we have the officials halftime hotdogs rigged, they will be late as hades, works every time. Besides Lamont Paris is a newbie, he'll never know what hit him.BVS kicking in for tonight.
