NOTABLE

Win Streak Into Double Digits
Tennessee continued its early season success with another undefeated showing last week, going 4-0 to run its win streak to 10 games, marking the program's sixth win streak of 10 or more games since 2019. Over its current win streak, the Vols have outscored their opponents 117-30 and have posted five run-rule victories, including three straight in last weekend's series sweep of Bowling Green. UT is averaging 11.7 runs per game during the streak, as well.

Billy Barrels
Junior third baseman Billy Amick has been red-hot at the plate this season, leading the team and ranking among the SEC leaders in numerous offensive categories, including hits (17), home runs (seven), RBIs (18), total bases (42) and slugging percentage (.933). Amick was named the SEC Player of the Week on Monday after blasting four homers and leading the league with eight runs scored last week.

Burke Chasing Home Run Record
After hitting three homers in last weekend's series sweep of Bowling Green, junior slugger Blake Burkeis just six home runs away from tying the program record held by his predecessor at first base, Luc Lipcius, who hit 40 during his UT career (218 games played). Burke's 34 career long balls have come in just 122 games played.

ON DECK

The Vols host Big 10 foe Illinois in their final home weekend series of the non-conference slate this weekend at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. First pitch for Friday's series opener is slated for 6 p.m.

Billy Amick is the baseball equivalent of Dalton Knecht.

Really thought he'd be the starting SS, but with the way Curley is going, sheese....good luck with shoehorning him out of the lineup. Still early, but Antigua might just have been Wally Pipped.
Curley is the early favorite for freshman of the year in the SEC. No way you give AA his job. But the good news is, they're both freshmen. With Amick and Moore both leaving after this year, both will have starting spots in the infield next season. I could see AA at SS and Curley at 3B in 2025.

I'm guessing Antiqua goes to second when he is fully ready, still can't hit. CMo goes to center and Curley owns short. Someone will be displaced in the OF if Antiqua hits like he did at times in the fall. Too many pieces to fit in the puzzle.
To be clear, when you say Antiqua can't hit, are you referring to "weak" hitting or he's limited due to his injury? Know you mentioned how he did at times in the fall, but was implying it was the exception and not the rule?

can’t hit due to his thumb injury. Once healed he’s a typical good freshman hitter.

Sounds like a so called TN “fan“ was chirping at Burke after his first AB. Embarassing that we have morons but every fanbase unfortunately has their share. I don’t understand the need to undermine or call out our players. Disgraceful if you ask me...

On the bright side, Tony said he didn't think the asinine heckler was a regular fan. So, maybe not a Vols fan at all. I bet people will be looking out for this loser if he repeats his stunt. I do like how in CTV's telling, he made a point to say that the heckler motivated Burke and Burke made a play batting as a result. That is not the kind of feedback a heckler would want, I suppose.

But, yeah, what a jerk!

Injured so can only play defense right now. Antigua has an incredible glove and pretty special bat. Has surprising power for his small frame.

Agreed. What a clown! That guy must live a miserable life to berate his own team. Doubt he’s a fan of anyone except his self.

Zander has been announced as starter.

Z. I'm rooting for you; but It's now or never.
Do what we KNOW you can do

Zander needs to show out tonight! He needs a quality start. Not sure if he’s on a limited pitch count tonight, but would love to see him pitch at least 5 strong innings. I really hope he’s focused and motivated and performs at a high level according to TV and FA standards. Boom! Let’s go Z!
