Oh wow. So Pearl beat the #1 team that had Derrick Rose so he should be eternally loved and praised? Dude get real and grow up. I mean you do realize that Pearl coaches at one of our rival teams right? Why wouldn’t we want to see him lose?

They were content to guard a space more than a man and really the main thing was to keep everybody outside. DeVoe as were most coaches back then were all about percentage shots. Of course teams had the guy's that could shoot from outside but the majority wanted to get the easy shot, press after a made free throw or otherwise set up and guard your spot. Funny how things have really changed as far as press, man to man and zone.

I know...so would you quit arguing about this? I've been watching 70s games with Mears, not DD coaching..and in the few games I've watched the defense was mediocre at best and a lot of bad...just because you play zone it doesn't mean you look lazy, soft, slooooow and disinterested when the other team has the ball.

Maybe they were tired in the few partial games I've seen and usually gave better effort, I don't know 🤷‍♂️ I am sure they did sometimes.

Imo Pearl brought us back to true relevance since Bert and Ernie. I was a student then and it was amazing...Memphis and Texas games were legendary. Barnes has taken us to even higher levels and for a longer period. Awesome!

Thank god for both or we might still be in the doldrum years🙏

Still cant believe how lucky we were that Barnes fell into our lap. I wonder if Texas is salty about firing him, then him coming here and doing what he's done while they're still being Texas?

Don't disagree with what you said but this is what got me!

The NCAA rejected Reggie Bush's request to reconsider penalties levied against the USC football program -- as part of Bush's effort to regain his Heisman Trophy -- because he was "not an involved individual" in the landmark case, CBS Sports has learned.

In a 2022 letter from the NCAA to Bush's legal team, obtained by CBS Sports, the NCAA Committee on Infractions explained to Bush, "... you were never officially charged by the NCAA enforcement staff" in the 2010 case.

The letter clarifies to Bush that the sanctions were "an institutional penalty. Therefore, you do not have standing to seek reconsideration. Your request is therefore denied."

"The NCAA, in my opinion, is trying to run from this," Bush told reporters in December. "I feel like now I was framed. How did USC receive this massive penalty with no factual proof behind it?"

"If you remember, it was about a year that I didn't give it back," Bush said. "It was almost like was on the run. I shouldn't have given it back. It wasn't until they started talking about filing a lawsuit against me for not returning the Heisman. They started throwing things around in the media like that. I was scared, 21 years old. The world and the NCAA, it felt like, was against me."

Every conference gets a tourney that allows any team from it to automatically qualify for the NCAAT if they can win their league's tournament.

It keeps every single team invested right to the very end.

For teams already locked in...not a ton. But as players, I 100% guarantee they want to go win it.
