Pistol Pete would have scored 4,482 points with the 3pt line as adopted in 1986. In only 83 games since Freshman couldn’t play. That would be almost 54 pts per game. Insane.
And Caitlin still would have outscored him if she shot 38 times a game ( 4,502 points) with the same number of shot attempts (a whopping 3,166 lol).

Now...if the 3 pointer was a thing back then, folks would have guarded him far more closely on them, right? It was just s sucker shot back then, shooting from 30+ ft out for only 2 pts. AND he may have attempted more if it was for 3, right? The possibilities are impossible to truly estimate given all factors.

But...why?!?

This isn't attacking Pete. No need to white knight for the man.

Both are greats in their own arena. But the record is what it is. Doesn't mean people can't realize the differences.

Recognize greatness and respect both imo. It's not a petty argument...just recognition lifting up one another.

Calm down, Mr. Clark, it’s a simple difference in fan theory. 😳

Pretty tough second round matchup, but they all probably will be at this point.
It also should be pointed out that Jerry Palm is one of the worst bracketologists out there.

The site bracket matrix takes every reputable bracketolegist on the internet and rates the historical accuracy of them.

Jerry Palm ranks 142nd. One of the worst out there.

Fair enough - your opinion. Who would you place above her just curious?

Parker?

Taurasi?

Miller?

All would be respectable tops.
Cheryl Miller imo.

If your brother who was one of the greatest 3 point shooters in NBA history is still referred as Cheryl's little brother. Mad respect to her..

He also played for his dad and shot 40-50 times a game.... Anyone DECENT would score alot shooting that much šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I think doing it and only averaging 20-22 shots is ALOT more impressive than doing it averaging 40-50 shots šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø but hey let's hate on someone's talent and accomplishments šŸ˜‚

We've all seen the videos/highlights and the talent Pete played against. Let's be honest. Glorified high school teams and players that barely knew how to dribble. & Idc if he shot from half court. It still count as 2 back then. Don't give me the "hE sHoT fRoM 3 wItH nO 3pt LiNe" that's his stupidity for shooting a tougher shot for the same 2pts as a layup lol
Really one of the worst takes I’ve ever read. You sound completely biased. He played in the SEC and was also a pretty good professional, not sure what you mean by glorified high school teams. He would still be wildly successful if he played in this era, he was incredibly skilled.

As much as I love Candace

It's Caitlin Clark and it's not very close. Other than the old "hasn't won a championship" debate

She is on such a different level than everyone she's playing against it's truly insane. I almost felt sorry for her that her teammates can't keep up with her and can hardly handle her passes. She'd have had 5 or 10 more assists if her teammates could catch a pass on the move and shoot at lay up lol.

Caitlin Clark may be the greatest women's college basketball player. Wonder how her game will translate to the WNBA? Until she shows out on a bigger stage, I think there are better women's basketball players than her.

It's Caitlin Clark as a college player. Not so sure her "greatness" follows her to the pros. It might. Or she might be women's basketball equivalent of Tim Tebow. We'll see.

Chamique Holdsclaw for starters.
*Four-time All American
*2-Time National POY
*All Time leading scorer AND rebounder in Lady Vols history, SEC history, AND NCAA Tournament history.
*One of, maybe, five women who have over 2000 pts (she has 3025), over 1000 rebounds, over 300 assists, and over 300 steals in their career.
*Final Four All Tournament Team 3 times
*3-Time National Champion

Again...I am, in no way, disputing Clark's greatness...she is an unbelievable basketball player, and has her place AMONG the all-time...

She's not Chamique, though...yes, imo.

He was skilled for his era. Get real. Someone like Kryie Irving would make him look foolish with the handles NBA and even college players have today. & a defender like ZZ or Mashack would pick his pocket every time down the court dribbling up at his damn shoulder. Idc what league he played in. He was good in his ERA doesn't mean he'd be worth a damn in today's time. Cause he wouldn't be šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Oh boy. Here we go again with ā€œthat era’s greats couldn’t even play in today’s gameā€ lol…
