Women are substantially smaller. It scales. And males are about 8 or 9 times stronger -- any boy or man who has started/gone through puberty is. The adult sized ball is to account for puberty.

True but they don’t size down the rims for females…. They are shooting a smaller ball into regulation size rims which is part of the reason that the sports don’t care. My daughter competes against boys and can shoot a regulation ball from so I wonder if that will change in the future…. It will hurt % of makes though in a sport that needs more scoring to draw in non die hard fans.

Post mortem on Bama. I’ve watched them play 4-5 times this year. They played the toughest defense I have seen them play last night and still gave up 80+. On top of that, they just can’t score at their elite level if they are trying to also play even moderately acceptable defense.

They have the makings of a 3 or 4 seed that goes out to a hot shooting 14 or 13 seed in the first round. And if they do survive the first round, I think a 5 or 6 takes them out on a neutral court.

Excellent post. I agree, their conditioning (or lack thereof) cost them that game. It's a shame playing good D is so tiring

He also played for his dad and shot 40-50 times a game.... Anyone DECENT would score alot shooting that much I think doing it and only averaging 20-22 shots is ALOT more impressive than doing it averaging 40-50 shots but hey let's hate on someone's talent and accomplishments

We've all seen the videos/highlights and the talent Pete played against. Let's be honest. Glorified high school teams and players that barely knew how to dribble. & Idc if he shot from half court. It still count as 2 back then. Don't give me the "hE sHoT fRoM 3 wItH nO 3pt LiNe" that's his stupidity for shooting a tougher shot for the same 2pts as a layup lol

1. Does Bilas even hear himself when he is that biased? Seriously... I watched the game again this morning and his mindset and play by play was literally 100% bama based on what they can do, what they need to do, how great their players are, how great oates is, and begrudgingly gives UT credit from time to time throughout the game because he knows he has too... Someone at that level, you would think they would know and hear themselves... can't believe he still is so butthurt over us whipping his dukies last year... grow up and get over it ya baby.

Last night twitter/X was going off on bilas and his clear bias...

A decent point brought up on TOS about being a 1 seed out west vs a 2 seed in the south

That said, if we're #2 in the South...our EE matchup is most likely vs Houston.

As compared to Zona out west...much more beatable team imo on a neutral, even if out west. Zona also more likely to not even make it there, as opposed to Houston who's on a tear.

This is what makes all the time, effort, and energy about numerical seeding in March Madness so naïve. Depending on how the bracket takes shape, we might *in theory* want to trade our 1st or 2nd seeding for a 3rd seed in a more favorable bracket.

No coach worth his salt gives a damn about where they are seeded numerically. They care about matchups. In other words, what their path will look like via the various potential matchups along the way.

I’m always thankful when Jimmy Dykes calls our games. He’s always fair, not arrogant, and his knowledge of the game is exceptional.

I don't think that matters that much. The pre-NCAA women's record was higher than Pistol Pete's (Clark just broke that one too) and back then there was no such thing as a women's ball. Shooters like Clark, Marovich and even DK will just adapt to whatever you give them.

8 or 9 times stronger? I'm pretty delusional about my athleticism, but even I wouldn't say I'm 8 or 9 times stronger than a female. Maybe I missed the context here though.
