I'm not disputing that, yes, it can learn some of the nuances; but, you know as well as I do, there's some of those tiny details in each sport...you think the tech can pick up on it?
Given time - hell yes. And you simply sim it until it's good-to-go and surpasses human reffing by a magnitude.

We've reached the dang moon...AI has reached unthinkable levels in just the past couple couple years. Facial recognition, voice and body recreations, art...literature...it's wild. Things I thought it could never pull off.

I'd love to at least use machine learning for some good. It sure can't be any worse than what all sports around the globe currently have, right?

Folks say Knecht is Bird...because, well ya know.

But he plays far more like Durant than Bird.

This Avila guy right here is Larry Bird to the tee though 😆 He's got all the funky moves and deception. Doesn't look the part, but far exceeds it.
Imagine him in a decent (UT) weight lifting program instead of a Golden Corral program.

When Knecht pulls up for a deep 3, with his frame, movement, and all, tell me that ain't Durantula pulling up for a 40 footer 😳

It's scary familiar imo. Also how he drives, a bit lanky and doe footed, but with killer instinct.

So yes, DK = KD.

Bird was out there backing up to turnaround and "dunking on folks" with dirty, filthy passes.

Now, I'm not dead serious about this comparison because this dude is 10x the sleeper. He doesn't even look like a good water boy tbh 😆
I agree, DK reminds me of KD, his game...has all year, as others have compared him to Bird; for more the reason you mentioned.

My comment was more about the Bird comparison with the dude from Indiana St. The thought of Bird being this non-athletic white boy, who was only smarts and shooting skills, is one of the biggest myths in sports history. Far from the truth.

Since Allan Houston, imo. Houston averaged 22 ppg for his career at UT, over 4 years. He never had a season, that he averaged less than 20 a game. His SO year, he averaged 24 ppg.

But, yeah, DK is right there with Bernard and Houston, as the greatest pure offensive players/scorers we've ever had.

Edit: Can never forget Ernie Grunfeld, as I did originally. 🤦‍♂️ He absolutely needs to be in the conversation about our greatest scorers.
I never glanced at King's stats until a couple weeks ago.

Has to be the best player to ever step on the court in orange and it's hard to even imagine a better.

Absolutely, unimaginably dominant.

I was shocked when I saw it and still am. Might be up for best college player all-time. Just didn't play on the best all-around team outside of Ernie. But objectively, he has to be up there individually.

Like I said, I'm not totally against it, at all; because i want fair games called...i want Bama to be called for more than one fk-ing penalty, whenever everyone in the entire world knows that was nowhere near the case.

Just don't want what I've said, you know. I don't want it to be so on the nose, it turns the sport bland.

Yeah, he was a dude...THE dude.

Put Allan Houston on this roster and he would be just as big a star as DK.

Allan had very little help ..
Houston was a better pure shooter...but Knecht is way better off the dribble.

I have been thinking of something that nobody has really said...If Barnes and Dalton had come into the season knowing exactly what he could do and how to use him...his overall numbers would be way better and the perception of him would be even bigger than it is now.

I really wish we could have had him a couple of years.
