I think Obama was ripe for the picking in 2012, the economy was stumbling along, Obamacare was unpopular and the delays were making things worse, I think a lot of people had the bad taste of GW out of their mouths and the novelty of "I voted for our first black president" had waned. Romney wiped the floor with Obama in the first debate then played the nutless wonder during and after the 2nd debate and it sunk his campaign. He couldn't generate any enthusiasm and actually turned a lot of people off.

I thought the second debate was when he went into attack mode?

Regardless, the question stands of what did he offer differently?

It was just an example for illustration. It wouldn’t have made much sense to use the misogynist smear that was common with Romney.

Trumpers worship Trump because of feels - 100%. It's all about his personality. Let the same policies be stated by a normal and decent human, and Trumpers wouldn't respond in the least - they would simply scream "RINO" if told to do so by Trump.

A Moment of Trumpenfreude​

OK, I have to admit it: I’m enjoying the spectacle of Donald Trump begging for a delay in the $454 million fine he’s required to pay for fraudulently inflating his net worth, for two reasons.

First, his inability to come up with the cash basically confirms the charges: He isn’t as rich as he claims to be. Second, his evident inability to get anyone to lend him the money is poetic justice for a man who has a history of bilking gullible investors.

One small addition to the Trumpenfreude: A GoFundMe set up to help Trump pay his bills has so far managed to raise about a third of 1 percent of the amount he owes.
You do have to wonder about how this will affect his psychological state. Trump’s speeches have become increasingly incoherent lately — a trend that has attracted sufficient attention that a few days ago he felt compelled to respond, telling an audience: “There’s no cognitive problem. If there was, I’d know about it.”
I think I’ll just leave that there.

It's more about him being a horrendously despicable human and some liking him specifically for that reason.

Find a moderately decent human that has his same policies, and the public will find it much more palatable.
It's not an overly complicated position.

But Trumpers are all about the feelz that Trump gives them and hate the same policies when given by RINOs.

They're working on it. I still hope and believe that Biden will be replaced.
But there is also the same feeling as in 2020......as long as the other choice is Trump, Biden doesn't look so bad.
