War in Ukraine

Should we start a pool on when "ethnic Russians" in Armenia call on Putin to defend them, and Russia feels compelled to invade?

Feel bad for Armenians though. Surrounded and constantly losing land since the days of the Roman Empire. They have taken it on the chin for over a Millenia. I imagine that Russia's failure to safeguard them from Azerbaijan is driving this decision.

Yep, sucks for them. Genocided by Turkey, forced into bing an SSR by Russia, and then they bet on the wrong horse after the fall of the USSR, when they joined Russia in a useless CSTO that would never deliver any actual increased security.

Hopefully they can divest themselves of Russia while Putin is focused on sending Russian soldiers to their deaths in Ukraine, and avoid being invaded themselves.

Yeah, Turks have committed genocide on a lot of people. The Modern Nation of Turkey did not even have a single Turk in it as of1000 A.D. The Eastern Half was heavily Armenian. Look at picture of Kingdom of Armenian in the time of Ancient Rome, it is literally 20x the size of Armenia today.

Most of modern Turkey was Greek prior to the Turks. A lot of Greeks were also killed off by the Turks.

Granted, you could say the same thing about America.

and how does "most capable" mean "indestructible" to you? Without knowing any context its pointless to laugh at the capability.

a lone RPG set the whole thing burning, yeah, that would be laughable. It dueled 10 T90s by itself and took out 8 of them before it was taken out, then I would say it did its job pretty dang well. Ukrainian crews drove it into a mine field, would say more about the crew/command than the tank. I have no idea why you act like our stuff must be full proof or its a complete overpriced lemon.

of course you ignore the context and jump straight to any click baity anti-American post you can.

As the second most powerful military in the world continues to lose surface combatant ships to a country without a navy we don’t hear a peep. But at the slightest hint that a singular MBT MIGHT have been taken out in enemy action against his homies we get this. 😂

the video they include doesn't show anything. its shows a burning tank, can't see anything about it to even tell if it is an Abrams, but even assuming it is the video doesn't convey anything. then the video cuts to another Abrams driving around in a completely different area than the destroyed tank, and its completely undamaged. I guess it wants us to think that was the same one, but again, no actual context given, Ras just jumps straight to anti-America

Yes. Completely useless video clips with no context I agree. But we’ve seen this for two years now and it cuts both ways on both camps also.

oh definitely. Its why I pretty much never post anything from the actual fighting, its so cut up from both sides, its impossible to tell what is really going on. I wouldn't be shocked if either side ran video that was actually filmed by their enemy and claimed that as a win for them. but when it comes to Ras he is soooooo quick to question the West, but will swallow hook, line, sinker, pole, and fisher when it comes from Russia.

Here is a media piece on the incident with some analysts included. Sounds like some of the open source people think it could be a knocked out M1 but they also add the blow out doors are open too meaning the crew could have survived. Western tanks are designed to release all that energy outward and thus we don’t get those fun to watch turret tosses. Even with this it’s still just conjecture. But if the crew did survive then the tank did its job even when it was destroyed 🤷‍♂️

one of my favorite/stuck with me M1 stories was about a Abrams in Desert Storm in Baghdad. it got a track taken out, and eventually some other system, and it was eventually lit on fire. crew bailed out, but with the position of the turret the driver (I think) couldn't escape. they had to leave him behind and it was a couple days later until the reclamation crews made it to the Abrams expecting to find a dead driver. he was still alive, despite being in a burnt out inoperable tank deep behind enemy lines for several days on his own.

like you said, if the tank protects its crew, its done its job. and ras and russia completely avoid any such context. could easily have been a propaganda piece to say it didn't protect its crew showing how bad our tech is. but no context given, Ras just found something to hate on America.

It's posts like these that let everyone know that you are just LARPing as an American.

No, I am a realist. The ones LARPing are those of you who think America today is somehow superior to Russia. 2 Countries heading in two totally different directions.

Who are the "these people" you're referring to here? NATO's expansion is a wonderful Joe Biden/EU punch in the face to Putin--and Trump.

Putin has a massive inferiority complex--and it's well-deserved. The country has a lot of oil and gas and is a very wealthy gas station, and they have the capacity to make a lot of military equipment and sacrifice a lot of their poor ethnic minorities in a war, but all things considered Russia is, at best, a second-rate nation--maybe even third.

If Ukraine can drive Russia out of the Donbas, at the least, if not Crimea as well, and the war end, and Putin somehow stays in power and doesn't get shot or hanged for war crimes, and Ukraine joins the EU, Ukraine will become a more prosperous and dynamic country than Russia. That is certainly a big part of what Putin fears. A dynamic, democratic Ukraine will make Russia look poor and oppressed in comparison, and the Russian people will notice---not just the oligarchs and the mobsters who already know that Europe (the West) is more successful than Russia (that's why they all have homes in Europe, vacation there, send their kids to school there), but average, downtrodden Russians will come to see it, too---just as nearly all the people in Eastern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, the Baltics) have come to see it since the end of the Cold War and breakup of the USSR--people who lived under the harsh Soviet boot. For them, never again. And if the Russian people see it--and let's remember that they don't really see it now because the state controls the media, massive daily Trumpian-like propaganda-- and most Russians don't travel and aren't educated--well, you could see unrest in Russia, at some point.

That is the biggest pile of horseshlit I have seen on this board. From first sentence to last, just an unrealistic fantasyland delusion. You really need help.

Lol, this you?

insanity..
No no no... this was always going to be the next logical step. All of this hand-wringing about not sending long range missiles back in 2022 and we went from that to where we are today. Each step of escalation we tried, Russia matched and exceeded.

One more time... its boots on the ground for today. But I guarantee you that Russia is not going to be wasting time fighting in trenches and bunkers with NATO. As soon as NATO makes the decision to go in to Ukraine (expecting Russia to fight them in the same manner as they are fighting fellow Slavs), the hypersonics will fly. They may or may not have nuclear warheads (the kinetic energy alone of these hypersonics is enough to do damage).

must be some truth to this as it was publicly stated by Macron
Who in the hell in NATO is going to be running to sign up for a war with Russia? Who is going to fight? Not this generation.... and I don't blame them.

The only viable/Hail Mary option that NATO (United States and her vassal states) have is to try and win a first strike nuclear war.

Good luck with that.

"Make peace you fools..."
