First and will be only post ever in the political forum. I’m a Boomer. I’m neither right nor left, I’m just me. 25 percent of the important stuff I’m hard left (e.g. women’s right to chose), 25 percent I’m moderate left (climate stuff), 25 percent I’m moderate right (singling out LGBQ stuff as something important - bleh), 25 percent I’m hard right (closed borders). So reason I’m posting is I’m disgusted with what we think are viable candidates to run this country. An ancient bench warmer and a just about as ancient uneducated con man. To the youth of America - you need better to guide you through the most meaningful years of your life. Quit letting us ancient Boomers decide for you. We don’t know crap. We followed the greatest generation ever as the worst generation ever. Do you think we’d put our lives on the line for anything? No, we are a bunch of self absorbed wimps. We created just about everything we complain about. Go out and vote in huge numbers and hopefully write in someone better than those two (any name would be better). Good news is there is hope. Us Boomers will all be dead in 20 years or so, so that’s good for the country. But we will leave you a huge mess to clean up.

Unfortunately, this will only happen when we have a fiscal collapse. We currently shell out nearly half a trillion a year for illegals. That's around 1/8th of what we take in per year in tax revenue.

Those numbers make no sense. Tax revenues are around $5T

Financial stuff is east in concept and tricky in implementation for me. Most that can afford to contribute to the less fortunate don’t want to do it through taxes and government subsidies. But they also don’t want to do it at the counter by paying more for higher salaries for entry level labor. Open discussion to agree on a compromise somewhere in the middle doesn’t seem to be an option.

I though it was 4.3 trillion per year. My bad, just looked it up and it's 5.03 trillion per year (and I meant half a trillion...it's early), so that makes the it 1/10th of the federal budget at half a trillion. A huge chunk.

Fiscal responsibility means slaughtering a lot of sacred cows and allowing people to experience hardships. What are some of your cows you are ready to send to the slaughter house?

Where are you getting the $500B number? Most have it under $200B and that includes state expenditures

Almost no one wants that. Of everyone in Congress I'd say only Rand Paul wants it. Fiscal conservatives have nowhere to turn

The country is in a bad place right now but I wouldn't blame Boomers. They've got a work ethic. Problem is our current candidates are too old to be a Boomer (Trump is a very very old Boomer)

Give me back all of my social security, tax free that I and my employer paid in and they won't ever have to give me another cent.
