War in Ukraine

Why not simply answer the question? Was the Russian Constitution amended lawfully?
Why not respond to my post first? I posted first, you responded with deflection.

it was lawfully done to keep Putin in power. Dictators everywhere change the laws so they can stay in power. that's typically how dictatorships work. They write the laws to their own benefit.

as a standalone measure it may not get one fully on the list, it is possible to be that well liked. but when you combine it with jailing and killing political enemies. invading your neighbors. overemphasis on one's military, a pseudo cult of personality, and generally relying on fear mongering propaganda to justify your power; you are probably a dictator.

if a Dem did the exact same thing Putin did, you would lose your mind. but because its Putin you are literally not allowed to question it.

They "made up"? You know this how? Were there conditions? If there were, did Prizoghin follow them? Unlike Navalny, who I assume died of natural causes, natural being brutal conditions of a remote Russian jail, I think it very likely Prizoghin was offed.

"In all, 35 people were invited to the meeting and the president offered Wagner’s leaders further opportunities for employment and involvement in combat operations, it reported."

again, you and Ras were in here laughing it off as no big deal. 8 months later you have flipped your narrative to fit the current situation.

here you go @volgr

you were "mysteriously" absent during the whole event. but Ras was on here spinning it as a big nothing burger. Weird that getting your plane shot down over your home country is considered leniency by Ras. Heck Ras started out claiming it was just western propaganda. jump back to about page 2650 and read forward.
I don't buy any of this. Again, lets see what happens in the next 24-48 hours.

Dude, step back and look at this situation and how it unfolded.

Some random guys walking in single file lines right up to a Russian defense building and no shots fired yesterday.

25k Wagnerites claiming they are going to take Krasnodar (SE of Rostov), and drive 14-16 hours to Moscow and conquer a city of roughly 20M.

It smelled fishy very early on as the narrative went on and could be sniffed out within hours.

One thing of note... depending on how this develops over the next few days/weeks, it looks like these alleged coup plotters will get more leniency that the January 6th "insurrectionists". Joe Biden is far more of a dictator than Putin could lie about being.

This may surprise you but Ras and I dont collaborate behind the scenes but we do share similar views on Russia/Ukraine.

So if you oppose giving Ukraine a blank check you're pro Russia?
I believe the Trump supporters are very much pro authoritarian and pro Putin. And I didn't say anything about a blank check. But cutting them off was a right wing led foreign police failure IMO.

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." - JFK. I think Republicans used to believed this too.

This post right here summarizes clearly and concisely why our country is a pile of dung today. If someone does not agree with me politically, they must be the lowest of low.

Putin is an evil dictator, I have fought Ras and others about that but I don't believe that most the people on here want a dictator like you describe. The fact that we cannot find common ground is thanks to you and the type of mindset you post here. People like you created Donald Trump and the Trumpers. Let that sink in.

I think you are being asinine. If you really look at Trump's presidency he was far from authoritarian.

And how has that philosophy worked out for us?

you would have been spouting the same nonsense. but as usual when Russia is taking a loss you weren't to be found. funny how that ALWAYS works out.

seems like you did right here.

Where is your line? you seem to be bouncing back and forth between having a line, and not having one. 100 billion? 1 Trillion? 10 Trillion? are you ready to live with the ramifications of that? Continuing this inflation for another decade to ensure Ukraine survives? Willing to completely de-arm our military to make sure Ukraine has the equipment? Willing to send over servicemen and women to fight on the line like your nice quote implies?

the aspect you guys always seem to confuse is that most of us aren't actually Pro-Putin. we just aren't for giving and endless supply of goods, and our politicians holding our nation's border hostage until another nation gets money. Its really not that complicated to understand.

I have been mostly out of this thread for a year while Ukraine suffered horrific losses in their failed offensive. I take no pleasure in the carnage because I am not a death cultist. I strongly advocated for peace negotiations from the start.

"The Ohio senator contended, “As the American defense budget nears $1tn per year, we ought to view the money Europe hasn’t spent on defense for what it really is: an implied tax on the American people to allow for the security of Europe. Nothing in recent memory demonstrates this more clearly than the war in Ukraine. There is frankly no good reason that aid from the US should be needed. Europe is made up of many great nations with productive economies. They ought to have the capacity to handle the conflict, but over decades they have become far too weak. America has been asked to fill the void at tremendous expense to its own citizens."

My line is to support them as long as Ukraine is willing to fight or is getting kicked so badly that losing is inevitable. I'm not worried about the economy or inflation. Both are doing exceptionally well from where we were in 20-21. The economy has been an up and down ride for the entire history of the country and probably always will be. Our military depleted? What makes you think that? I can't prove it but I suspect we have 10 times the armament Russia had when they started this war. And I believe we have weapons and capabilities that are beyond what any adversary might have.

I may be wrong about the cult being pro Putin. But being pro Trump is as bad or worse IMO.

I'm sorry you believe the country is a pile of dung. It is not. And people like me created Trumpers? Are you thanking me or condemning me?

This guy would give up his left nut for a war with Putin and for that check from the MIC…regardless of who the “enemy” is. The man is a unhinged lunatic, I will cede that..

The US Republican Party's support for Putin and Russia is really a sad turn of events. They were once a staunch defender of democracy and freedom in the world.

Why isn't there ever any discussion of a peace agreement and whatever that looks like that both countries are willing to agree to?

It is odd and a lack of leadership in my opinion.

Where is this US proxy war with Russia headed?

Both sides have heavy losses but Ukraine has lost a generation of men. A generation of men just gone.

I'm guessing you didn't like that peace around the world from 2017 - 2020.
