OkI think the fanbase making it difficult is all smoke. Our ADs/Admin have done the LVs the same way they did football for a decade and a half. We'll find out if DW is any better when he makes a hire. TBF, I don't think Holly was the wrong hire or even that Kellie was (though she had a lesser resume, I don't think anyone would've been ok with Fulmer making a money hire for the LVs with football still a wreck), the issue there is hanging on to them way past the point in which it was obvious they weren't the one. DW is the first real AD we've had in a long damn time, he will have the ability to make a big time hire if he chooses to - the question will be whether or not he chooses to but no one will stand in the way of him going after the best *if* that's what he wants to do.
Ben Joyce does not project as a starter…. Burns is a multi inning pitcher with elite arm metrics…. MLB cares about what the finished product will be…. not how you are in college or high schoolIf that’s the case Ben Joyce would have been a top 15 pick. MLB teams are not taking a guy top 3 if they aren’t a viable starter in college or HS. Wake Forest has been producing pitchers like crazy lately and promised him to be in the weekend rotation. Vs UT who moved him to the Pen. It’s a pretty easy choice
Name one pitcher drafted top 5 in the past 5-10 years that was a reliever in college. Heck name one drafted in the first round that was a relieverBen Joyce does not project as a starter…. Well, to be fair, there were several really good bands that cited KISS as their inspiration. Even at my age, I still dig their music. One might say that it's "timeless"? Of course, I still enjoy Elvis, Fats and Sam Cooke so....I don't hate KISS, but there are better bands. I thought they were cool as hell when I was a kid. Probably because of the movie they did where they had superpowers.
probably not bc that is a pretty rare guy….. i can name a starting pitcher taken in the top ten that struggled his junior year bc of his arm talent and how mlb projects him…. That would be Chase Dollander…. barely over .500…. poor era and whip but still taken number 9…Chase only averaged pitching one more inning per game than Burns…. Do you think that one inning would drop him that far?Name one pitcher drafted top 5 in the past 5-10 years that was a reliever in college. Heck name one drafted in the first round that was a reliever
Dollander didn’t get moved to the pen and his sophomore season was insanely good. Burns ? Since he was in HS was if he had the endurance to survive as a starter for a full season. Most pitchers that throw 100 regularly get burnt out or figured out mid way through the season. That happened last year and he got removed as a starter. If a college pitcher is a reliever there’s a typically a reason why and it limits how high they’ll get drafted. Can they become a starter at the next level? Sometimes but it’s not very common.probably not bc that is a pretty rare guy….. i can name a starting pitcher taken in the top ten that struggled his junior year bc of his arm talent and how mlb projects him….
