Some of it is just standard bad luck with pitchers. Soroka would have been an ace, Wright figured it out and his shoulder gave out. Ian’s elbow blew. But like Brown said, it’s why you pay for pitchers.

Just think if this team didn’t cheap out and said “screw it, let’s pay Zack Wheeler” after 2019 instead of “let’s hope we fix Sean Newcomb and give Cole Hamels $18M!” Or even something smaller like Eovaldi, they give him 2/$40M after 2022. You’re talking potential dynasty. Instead it’s “oh dear God I hope we aren’t starting Bryce Elder in game 3 in Philly again”

Just looked and saw Hyun-Jin Ryu is still a FA and actually pitched pretty solid coming off TJ. I wouldn’t mind a one year, incentive laden deal just to add some depth. Michael Lorenzen is available too and could be a nice 5th starter/long man

Ken Giles is in the Braves st camp as a non roster invitee and if he makes the team as a bullpen option, RL could be the 5th starter in the rotation.

We should have a RH fourth OFer, preferably that can play CF, to occasionally spell Kelenic and Harris but we invested in Kelenic and the tools are there. Give him every chance to fail. It’s not like he’s going to be in the middle of the order.
