NIL for roster retension just is pay-for-play. There is no difference in principle between that and a new recruit. The latter is just an angle that was cooked up to go after Nico.

There's a difference between a power ranking and predicting where folks will finish. See: Missouri football 2024. Journalists just say who the best team is, they're not deep diving into schedule dynamics to statistically predict where teams will finish.

And yet we still have every shot to do so. But it wouldn't be an upset if we failed to win the SEC (from day one). It would be an upset if we did, against the field.

For me - I’m OK with NIL the way it was at the beginning of 2023. I’m OK with potential endorsement opportunities or NIL opportunities being discussed between the athlete and the provider of the opportunity prior to commitment.

I really really really don’t want the Universities to become employers of the players. Student athletes on scholarship, in my opinion (for whatever it’s worth), should have the same status as student musicians on scholarship, or students on academic scholarships, or any other student on scholarships earned because they bring a skill or talent or business acuity to enhance the Universities they elect to attend.

The run UConn has had since 1999 is so underappreciated.

They now have 5 titles from '99 through '22.

The next closest during that period are Duke and UNC with 3 each.

Pretty incredible and they've done it through 3 different coaches. And yes, I'm mostly just happy a non-blueblood has been beating the bluebloods.

You are allowed to critique. You may have a valid point regarding the TO. I also think Barnes was a little unhappy with DK, and that may have contributed to him sitting longer.

Nil, which should be market based valuation, then allows those that can demand top $$, can still get top $$. And you wouldn't necessarily need collective bargaining because of title 9. Everybody wins.... Money earned by the schools from tv deals and post season gets distributed back to the athletes, nil allows additional opportunities for those that are able. Over simplified, sure. But I think that's a place you can work from. ADs could them use booster money for facilities etc..

I’m concerned we’ll be back to the situation where the teams with the best “under the table” program will have the advantage again…

Jim Calhoun took that University from the laughing stock of Big East to a National Powerhouse.

I consider Connecticut a BlueBlood with the 5 National Titles..

Kevin Ollie won with Calhoun's players and when he couldn't recruit got fired and Dan Hurley has brought them back to the top.
