Yes! They planned to ruin us as an example of the power they still had (although they only had what we gave them). They gave more punishment than we were led to believe we would get. Then we did the unthinkable and exceeded all expectations after the mass exodus, the bad publicity and punishments. Then we throw it in their face that we were willing to outbid the great Saban for the QB he wanted. We did this publicly by leak… that’s their tactic. So they unwisely chose to go after us AGAIN for doing what everyone is doing! They actually thought it would be enough to ruin us while they reorganize. And hoped it would bring fear to others. The NCAA is pissed because Heup has done such a great job of steering through the wreckage that they wanted to last a decade or more. That great scene when we beat Saban in Neyland and the fireworks I suppose nearly gave the NCAA a stroke.
The SEC had to intervene this year with completely corrupt officiating all season long to try to hold us down until the NCAA could spring it's crooked new attack.
People forget that Heup already won't get his first full recruiting class until 2028, even without this crooked new attack from the NCAA. But Nico sure looked good in that bowl game, didn't he?! Must have nearly given the 'AA a stroke to see us win like that.
Imo same thing is happening with the LVs that happened to the football program. As long as the administration is ok with accepting mediocrity, the program will be mediocre, to the point the LVs are no longer relevant in the public eye (recruits). It’s already been allowed to go on way too long. Holly got way more time than she should have, and now pretty Holly is too. I don’t know why the administration can’t see that it’s harder to dig yourself out of that hole once the shine of the program fades. I wasn’t surprised the previous ADs and administration let it linger, I am surprised DW has.I agree.
We expect the mens' programs to compete for NCs. Yet, the LV holdovers/cronies do not expect them to compete for NC's after having the GOAT women's HC deliver 8 of them? All of it happening with the tradition, fan support, money, and facilities to deliver it. That is unacceptable. It all works to the common good by at least attempting to be the best. Look at LV softball. Look at who attends LV softball games. It can be that way again with basketball.
Make the change and tell the old cronies to get on board or go away. It is obvious that a new fan and donor base needs to be developed and engaged. Time to turn the page.
If that’s the case, expect the NCAA to hail Saban as the epitome of how individuals associated with a university should handle themselves. It’s BS.Miami billionaire - and Hurricanes fan - John Ruiz was not happy with Nick.
“Shocked, shocked that somebody in the business for such a long time and on top of his game was totally clueless of what all of this means,” Ruiz told “The Miami Herald.” “He basically said, ‘I’m losing my market dominance because of everything that is going on and then starts… throwing everyone under the bus.”
Ruiz was just getting started.
“This was a very, very poor display of judgment and character,” Ruiz said. “It felt like a little teenager whining about why previously they had free reign and all of a sudden when you level the playing field. It was very ugly of him.
“It’s totally inappropriate the way he conducted himself and handled everything. More egregious is the very statements he made contained multiple NCAA violations of how he is involved in the process of the collectives and speaking to the kids about it and getting the kids involved.
