I don't find them distasteful as much as I just find them dumb...I mean what is the joke?..."Hey it's funny because you guys are complete f'n bad asses with huge giant cahones"
Obviously the joke has been played out by now. I agree with you, it's not really a job/lifestyle worth mocking.

If memory serves correct, I think that one of the Vol Twitter personalities made a "back to the coal mines!" joke a long time ago. Can't remember if it was after a football game or a big basketball game. It's been a while, but I think that the guy who made the post/joke passed away. So his friends or family have been posting the joke every time we play UK as homage to the fan. Which is fine, I guess, but now our entire fan base acts like it's the thing to do.

If you want a pure old country sound, listen to Sturgill Simpson.
I will add, as others have said … Colter Wall. Got an old gravelly cowboy sound - and pretty good at story telling. I could listen to “Bob Fudge” a million times because I can visually see the lyrics he’s talking about. He has many much more catchy and popular tunes, but that hits me in the feels.

HA! Kansas lost to Kansas State!

Take care of business this week and the Vols might just jump Houston and Kansas into 4th
I can't stand Clemson, but it would be nice tonight if they could upset UNC -- that cheating-with-impunity NCAA basketball pet. Would help us.

That call-in show "back to the coal mines" stunt by Peanut deserves fame, too, imo. 😂 We can keep the classics and dispense with piling on, I suppose. I don't recall the tweet you are referring to.

Yeah, andrew wood. Heroin overdose. The other members went on to enlist Eddie Vedder and form Pearl Jam after his passing.

But before that, they got together with Chris Cornell and formed Temple of the Dog and dedicated the entire album to Wood. Hunger Strike is the first time Vedder performed with them in the studio.
Found this somewhat recently. Rough recording, but still cool!

The argument didn't involve Ted Williams. The argument was between Willie Mays and Hank Aaron. Ted Williams was the best pure hitter of all time. But he wasn't the best power hitter of all time.
You’re right - Ted Williams wasn’t the best power hitter of all time.

He’s probably 3rd.

Only Ruth & Gehrig were better at their peak. Maybe Foxx. And fat headed Barry*

More real than any modern artist using a laptop and auto tune to pump out TikTok friendly singles
I have a sister in law, who is yuge in Europe with all that electronic music. Someone told me she played for some big artist and I said, 'come again?'

It sounds like if my 4 yo recorded his voice on a 1984 Casio Keyboard, then played it back using the keys, but with echo turned on.

It wasn't that long ago..just this modern crap that doesn't know what a steel guitar and a fiddle player are.
In order for me to LISTEN to music, that is a requirement.

This is Red Knuckles and his Trailblazers. IMG_5153.jpeg

For real, Tim O Brien may be the most talented musician ive ever listened too live.

Definitely my fave.

Top 10.

My post from yesterday was not a statement that Hank is the GOAT...I don't think he is, although he's my favorite from those era's, along with Mantle; all I am saying is, he's not talked about like he should be whenever discussing the greatest player of all time.

To argue against Willie Mays is foolish, just like arguing against Ruth or Gerhrig or Williams or Mickey or Joe D or Clemente or Hank or Bonds, along with a couple of others (they ALL can make an iron clad argument for the greatest, imo). Im not saying Willie is the GOAT neither, but his argument is as good as anyone's, same with Aaron. If someone held a gun to my head and said choose, I'd probably choose Ruth as the GOAT...but, even then, I'm not so sure I'm 100% confident in that choice.

Also, you said "probably Top 20" about Hank??...that's crazy, imo; and, here I was respecting your knowledge of the game. 😏

Another thing...I agree totally that Williams is the greatest hitter of all time, no question; however, Tony Gwynn can't be just ignored and brushed off in a discussion about such. Yes, Williams it is, but Gwynn is right there, right behind him.

All in my humble opinion.
Well, you’re talking exclusively about position players. I said he was a top 20 player of all time.

In the Top10 players you have to make room for Walter Johnson, Sandy Koufax, & Tom Seaver. If you want to add Maddux or Randy, that leaves 6 position players.

He’s not better than Ruth, Mays, Williams.
He’s in not over Gehrig & Bench.
Cobb? Hornsby? Bob Gibson? Christy Mathewson? The “other” of Maddux & Randy?
