Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

Graphic novel, book series, movie deal… In his 30s, he’ll be able to take the parents on an experience adventure. 😉

@BigOrangeMojo
I was surprised to find out that a near 30% difference was statistically insignificant
Edit: yes I know….but if he can play fast and loose with numbers so can I.

I learned the difference between Derek Dooley's and Nick Saban's 2010-2012 win totals was statistically insignificant today too....

Ok, now for the cool story bro…..
The blue fireplace mantle was salvaged from my great grandparents house. My great grandfather came here just before ww1 to escape antisemitism in Europe and met a fine Jewish woman who lived in Chattanooga. They were married and lived in a house at the foot of missionary ridge. Her family had been in that house since the 1840s. My father grew up on that house. The fireplace mantel was in the master bedroom. That house burned in 2006 shortly after my grandfather’s death. I was able to save the mantle and put it in my master bedroom. That mantle has been watching over my family while we sleep since the 1840s.

Where in Europe did he come from? Three of Hubs’s greats came from Ukraine and on from Romania. They had nothing good to say about life in Eastern Europe for Jews. This was in the 1920’s or so.

Hamburg Germany in the 1850s moved to Warsaw Poland in the 80s And finally to the United States in 1910ish.
Before 1850 is kinda fuzzy.

My sister is an ordained minister as is her husband. My other brother-in-law is a bible scholar who relishes discussion of scripture and its applicability to current events. I’ve read four versions of the Bible, and after reading a translation of the Koran by two English Christian scholars, I’ve started another written by an American Muslim scholar whose faithful translation of Arabic I trust (it has the original Arabic text with the translation on the opposing page). I’ve been party to uncountable discussions of scripture, and I will say that I’ve come to appreciate your understanding of the Torah and new covenant, Slice. You’re refreshing. I’d fish with you.

Have you spent any time reading Talmud?
It’s essential to understand what the thought process was 2000 years ago. While it’s commentary and debate on Torah it’s from 200-500 CE and really highlights the thoughts of the time shortly after the Gospels and letters were written.

No, I’ve not read the Talmud.

It really helps to understand what is being said.

For example. Paul say “messiah is the goal of the law for all who believe “. The word for goal is used in Talmud 11 times and is always understood to mean “Goal” yet over a thousand years later translators used the word “end” completely changing the verse. To say that Messiah is the end of the law directly contradicts what Messiah says…..”until heaven and earth pass away, nothing passes from the law”

Now if someone were to say, “how can that word have contradicting definitions?”, I’d simply ask “to what end are we having this conversation?”

So in conclusion Talmud is worth the read.
