Things are improving. I made a roundtrip to Chattanooga Tuesday to pick up stuff and top off cat food; started feeling bad on Wed. Decided Thursday the best thing was pack up and come home - tiring but OK - worst part was by then ears were so stopped up I couldn't hear anything. Friday drove the wife and her cat to the vet (brought him back with me on Tuesday when I saw he wasn't doing well); vet put him to sleep .. it was time - he was worn out. Wife walked into the vet with the pet carrier without a problem at 5 on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday couldn't stay upright. Got to the point I couldn't get her to and from the bathroom, so I switched her to Depends. That wasn't much better because she was dead weight and couldn't help at all.
Sunday got really bad - don't think my throat has ever been so sore and I hurt everywhere from coughing. I pretty much reached the end on my rope that night - room got fuzzy a couple of times; and I realized she was delirious - didn't even act sick, but a fever that I missed completely headed to 103. Called my son to come over from Huntsville to help, and then called for EMT. So wife was admitted to the hospital with COVID Sun night, and just transferred to rehab hospital today. My son checked in with the hospital, got some things for me, and is back with no bad effects so far. I'm on Paxlovid - makes an awful taste in your mouth; sore throat is almost completely gone, still hurts to cough but that's a lot less, and no fever for a couple of days.
The real blessing is the wife is at Siskin for at least of week of inpatient rehab, so maybe they can figure out the falling, balance, and on off cognitive problem. Seems more likely they will catch it there with daily interaction - nobody else seems to be homing in on the problem. Got up today to do a few things like take garbage out and fix a little more to eat. Back to bed soon - feel reasonably decent - still a bit tired.
