What are you listening to?

They got me interested in the drums in the 7th grade and I took drum lessons for over a year. Dressed up for Halloween as Peter Criss. I have many favorites, strutter, cold gin, love gun, I want you, do you love me....but this one is usually the first one I think of when I think of Kiss.

I was slightly before that. My introduction was Alive!. Listened to that for hours on end. After that I got some of their vinyl but it just couldn't live up to the live stuff. Still one of my favorites. I have for awhile, a towel that Gene Simmons tossed off stage at a concert in Huntsville.

Rock and Roll over was my very first 8-track and I wore it out. Love Gun was my first album if I'm not mistaken. Then Styx Grand Illusion.

My Dad gave me my first 45 which was Penny Lane by The Beatles and he also
Gave me my first albums which were Lovin Spoon Full and I think the Supremes, I was around 9 or 10. I can't remember the first album that I bought, but I had quite the collection, everything from Jimi Hendrix to
Al Green. My first 8 tract was possibly
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils with Chicken
Train or Bruce Springsteen with Born to
Run. I have to think back about what I had in my Volkswagen....lol, and yes it had mirrored windows in the back

Lulz, funny I don't remember what I just went to the kitchen for, but I remember going to Rivergate mall to Camelot records and my mom letting me get my very first 45. It was Paul McCartney and the wings Band on the Run. Had the green apple on it. Went to McDonald's afterwards.

Must have been a great day!

I remember after graduating HS, I believe it was 2 days after the ceremony, laying on my waterbed waiting on my best friend and 2 others to pick me up to go to Dayton. Wow what a time.

Anyway, when I saw them coming up the driveway, it was up a hill and about 150 yards long, I was listening to KDF radio station and this was on. It was still brand new.

The first album that I bought with my own money was Country Joe and the Fish I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’ to Die. The second was The Electric BB King. I had others which I’d bought with allowance money for mowing the yard and cleaning the gutters (2 story house; I chained myself to the chimney). My dad gave me Take Five, and my mom gave me Gustav Holtz The Planets. An older cousin gave me Disraeli Gears and James Taylor. I built my meager album collection through gifts until I got paycheck jobs.

I didn't realize records were invented before record players. How many years did you have to wait to play them?
