So at work yesterday, I had to go under a house to fix an electrical issue. While in the crawl space I came across an HVAC problem. For some reason a duct was moved and the old connection was never capped off so they were heating and cooling the crawl space. What’s funny is the pest control guys came in and instead of tell the homeowners or just fixing the problem decided they’d install a cage to keep any pest from getting in the ductwork.

That’s called being so focused on your job that you miss the big picture.

In the early 2000s, my wife and I were inspecting a property for sale (she was considering purchasing it). The info listed recently installed new HVAC. I entered the crawl space and discovered that the HVAC installers had cut away huge sections of three floor joists, essentially rendering them 2x2s beneath the center of the floor. Nothing had been done to provide additional support.
