Safe to assume the Florida game will get canceled?

The North is laughing at us
Always cracks me up when they laugh at anybody about dealing with the snow. I've lived in the Northeast for over 15 years and this is the kind of nonsense I see from drivers who think they understand the conditions (photo is from New Hampshire).

This storm is just ramping up. We won’t know until midnight tonight what we received accumulation-wise. Nearly all models are saying 8-12 or so.
2 may 3 inches at best. The roads to and from the airport will be OK and Knoxville will get the roads to TBL ready for travel. I don't expect the game to be postponed unless something happen to the the electrical system.

Didn't Tennessee Kentucky play during the blizzard of 93.

I remember it snowing like crazy that night and Kentucky beating the brakes off of a Wade Houston team.

That was at Rupp in the SECT (40-101 debacle) and the blizzard hit Knoxville just after the game ended. And didn’t stop for a day or 2.

My youngest daughter played basketball 4 years at Indiana University South Bend. We went to 2 games every season, one before Christmas and one after Christmas. I couldn't believe the snow and ice storms, nothing was ever cancelled or delayed. Drove back to South Bend from a game in Chicago in conditions that gave me "white knuckles." Cold draft beer never tasted so good when we finally made it back to South Bend.

Nah, Food City will have plenty of bread and milk in concessions. Folks will be fine.
Yeah, instead of 2 dollar hot dogs, it will be 4 dollar milk sandwiches. Got to make some money to pay for the decals on the court.

You ay be right. They are forecasting 4 inches in Vonore today It is currently 33 degrees here with a mixture of snow and rain. I am glad Ingot my milk, eggs, and bread yesterday. Future forecast for the next seven days is pretty cold. I guess no golf for another couple of weeks, even through I think the ball games will still be played.

More like 8 inches or more from the looks of it

Yes that was the most recent prediction. Another 3-5” expected throughout the day. But roads from airport to downtown would probably be manageable. Only issue would be is if all the support staff can get there.

The last weather forecast I saw, from the NBC affiliate in Chattanooga, this thing is supposed to hang around until about 7:00AM Tuesday morning, with snow, sleet and freezing rain. We're in a lull right now but the next swath is on the way. Main thing is the safety factor. A sporting event isn't worth risking your life for.

And your point is????
The overreaction? When I was in Montana, the kids missed 2 days of school in 5 years and it wasn't because of the amount of snow. It was because it got so cold the buses wouldn't run. The crews there are freaking incredible. They take those guide poles and clear the way. Very impressive. So folks who've seen that do snicker a bit when folks get worked up over a few inches of snow.

Yeah, I grew up in Rochester, NY and we almost never closed school, even with a few feet of snow. But, the difference is that they have a massive fleet of plows that would run continuously and clear every road. It doesn't make sense to budget for that in Knoxville and the hills add to our woes.

On the other hand, Knox county schools closing for wind last Friday was ridiculous.

Been a long time since my kids were school age, but they always factored in a crazy amount of "snow days" to the schedule so use 'em? Then again I never fully grasped how those worked because the kids always had to "make up" for the days lost to weather even when it didn't exceed those snow days.

My grandson does not have to report until 20th.
This.

Classes don’t begin until 22nd or 23rd, so majority of students still off campus. My son went back a few days ago to start his p/t job prior to classes. I don’t think the dorms are open yet.
