The Atlanta Braves

My sister went to a softball camp at UT in 07. The camp was held at the indoor football facility.
I heard the team was coming in to do bowl prep. My brother and I ran to the bookstore, bought a hat, and waited outside. Most of the players walked past us. Then one guy stopped. It was the guy who was about to get drafted in the first round - Jerrod Mayo. He signed for us. Then he flagged everyone else down and had them sign it until it was full. A bunch of NFL dudes signed it. Even Eric Berry is on there. But there’s not one there cooler than Mayo. He’s been that dude from day one. Happy for that guy.
Now that is the epitome of a "Cool Story Bro".

Debor doesn't scare me all that much. Good coach but I'm not sure he's ruthless enough to make it at Bama. Plus the expectations their fans have, he will be gone in 5 years, imo.

Heup is as laid back as they come and went 11-2. Gus is mild mannered as hell and beat Bama multiple times. If you can relate to kids and can coach offense, you’ll be fine

I just feel like Lane would be a scarier higher.

Lane did it to himself he’s not getting that job. Bur DeBoer is basically Lane without the baggage. He’s 102-14 as a HC. That’s knowing ball.

Now can he handle what comes with being the Bama HC? Who knows. We won’t know till he’s actually there.

You also forget Heup had experience at Mizzou, and made recruiting connections in the South at UCF. He knew what be was getting into.

Whoever Bama was going to hire was a drop off anyways. Their recruiting and player development had taken a step back anyways. No one is replacing Saban and that level/longevity of consistency.

Exactly. The question wasn't "Will Bama take a step back" it was "How big of a step back will it be"

How bad do y'all think DeBoer can be at Alabama and keep his job?

The playoff is expanding to 12 teams. I think they'd view missing the playoff once, unless it comes on the heels of winning a national title in the year or two prior, might be viewed as a fireable offense. Or making the playoff but not winning any games a couple of times. If he doesn't make a playoff run in his first or second year, there will absolutely be serious calls to fire him.

I don't think there's ever been a fanbase with such a warped sense of what is realistically possible as Alabama. If you disregard Year 1, Saban never finished outside the top 10. Remember how good 2022 felt for us? That was a good, but somewhat underwhelming season for Alabama fans the last 15 years. It's completely absurd.

Sometimes in the evening when I’ve had just the right amount of alcohol, not too little and not too much, I think about how Jack Harlow dropped Lord Farquad into a number one hit and no one ever mentions it
