The head to head matters but so does the rest of the schedule. If Texas and BAMA's schedules were as similar as ours and BAMA's was last year then you break that with a head to head but it's not. Texas played a soft schedule and has a good win with a bad loss.
No that’s BS. Head to Head between the 2 .
It ain’t rocket science.
Bamas schedule was soft .
Who’d they play worth squat?
Texas and UGA .
Texas beat them. End of discussion

Bad loss? OU finished ranked 12th lmao

They beat the dog 💩 out of their weak schedule. Bama beat their weak teams by 7 and 3 and similar.

Oh yeah.
Head to Head. Texas won

I love the hypocrisy of our fan base! If Tennessee was a one loss conference champion being compared to an undefeated Florida State we’d be saying the same things Bama fans are saying 😂😂😂

The SEC champion (despite the Bama hate on this board) is a better team than FSU.

Every fanbase is gonna have bias for their own team. But you can’t have bias in the media and in the selection committee. Bama has no argument. SEC champion is better than FSU based on what? A logo?

Based on the eye test that this Bama team would MURDER FSU, even with their 2nd string QB.

Your hypothetical is a little useless because any team not named Bama and this wouldn't even be a debate. The committee wouldn't even consider leaving a power 5 undefeated out if it wasn't little Nicky and his Tahd on the other end.

It would DEFINITELY be a debate on this board and we would be furious if FSU got in over us in this situation.

If things were equal, but insert Tennessee for Bama and we would be saying the same things Bama fans are and be absolutely incensed if we didn’t get in.

FSUs argument is essentially "what about the kids feelings?"

I obviously would have preferred no sec team but it's not surprising. Did we really want a for sure blowout because of feelings? I don't think it's going to be such an egregious issue next year and beyond.

Michigans reaction to it not being fsu tells you all you need to know.

I hope they still beat the crap out of Alabama.

FSU will lose to UGA. Badly imo.

I'm not sure about UGA beating FSU badly. Georgia has a good team but also has plenty of flaws, with more unmasked by injuries as the season progressed. It'll be telling to observe their attitude and attrition over the next several weeks.

I do agree with your observation about Michigan's response to Bama passing FSU. I suspect any other prospective playoff opponent would've had a similar reaction, because post-season Bama is objectively a bigger hurdle than post-season FSU. Records aside, getting the best four in the post-season is the committee's only stated mandate. That's why there's been no rule during the four team era stating that "an undefeated conference championship trumps all other considerations". That was never the case.

You can't have bias in the media? In what world do you live?

Looks like FSU playing a soft SOS bit them (or I'm sure that's what the committee will lean on)

1 Michigan (23rd SOS)
2 Washington (4th SOS)
3 Texas (2nd SOS)
4 Bama (12th SOS)
5 FSU (58th SOS)
6 Georgia (59th SOS)

And they lost to Texas by 10 at Home

At the beginning of the year and then proceeded to get a ton better. Texas, otoh, lost mid year to a mediocre OSU team and proceeded to beat no one. Whatever weight you give the head to head is easily overcome by the number and quality of ranked wins BAMA has over Texas.

Fsu playing for a title vs being snubbed and being told their season didn't matter shows up in 2 different teams.

I can hardly imagine FSU has any care for football again this year. What a ripoff.

Yeah, I expect Kirby will be far more fired up to "prove a point" than FSU will be.

Basically what happened was the committee said "Michigan and Washington, any objections?...Okay, next SEC team...can't be Georgia so Bama right?...But Texas beat them, well FSU didn't play anyone and could have a 3rd string QB starting....alright Texas 3 and Bama 4, objections?"

I'm not surprised Hooker getting hurt kept us BEHIND Bama going into bowl games and even after we smoked Clemson, subjectivity is a bitch and they all hated the BCS model cause they had no control.

So a "ton better" Bama squad almost got embarrassed by Auburn a week ago? They must've been really bad when they played Texas.

And Texas didn't lose to OSU.
