Recruiting Football Talk VII

IDK people still go off about him kneeling. I doubt he stays a starter but I think he's def. still playing if his protest hadn't sent a segment of the NFL's fanbase into an uproar. People will boycott over upset like that.
Yeah he protested what he knew was important to many people…. He got the reaction that he wanted….. That’s not why he is out of the league though….He had multiple surgeries and didn’t open the season as a starter…. He became the starter after he had been kneeling for the flag…. He lost the job to Blaine Gabbert after he threw for 4 total yds through three quarters…. He became a free agent in the off season… He didn’t want the vet minimum and that was all he was going to be offered… He went to a tryout with the Ravens…. His gf called them racist…. He claimed playing in the NFL was like being on a plantation…. He wore anti cop socks and fidel castro attire. NFL teams invited him for a tryout…. He refused and did a private workout which he turned into a spectacle….. No one wants that from a back up qb.

But why hate someone you don't agree with? That's what I don't get. We get more upset when someone disagrees us than we do when someone actually does something horrible. I don't have to agree with the politics of every player. It's no skin off my nose if one believes something I think is off the wall or wrong.
i’m sure you dislike all kinds of people for various reasons…..

What’s yalls thoughts on long term effects of transfer portal?
Having a son in his junior year, the whole recruiting process has somewhat turned me off of football, but it’s something he wants and as a parent, I will do my best to help him.
In his current state, 16 yo, he’s a D2, maybe a lower tier P5 player. He’s had every instate school reach out to him, quite of a few out of state d2/3 schools. No offers yet bc d2/3 wait til the 11th hour of senior year.
Unless you’re Johnny 5 star, with connections, you don’t get attention.
Coaches are recruiting the portal, period. We’ve had all level coaches tell us this.
Back to the long term effect of the sport…
How many talented kids that should be getting looks at any level, are not gonna get that chance bc of the portal and hang up their cleats? I truly think the numbers will be significant in 5+ years if things continue down this path. I’ve had coaches and recruiting coaches telll me the same.
Throw in the roster turnovers that are happening as well makes it even worse.
Rant over. With the portal opening up and seeing all these names drop is unfortunate imo.

when are the high school playoff games and who we got playing in them... i'll hang up and listen..
McCallie vs Baylor is on right now. D2-AAA

got the book, just cant finish.

i'm on Bosch: Legacy on Freevee. Best show on TV, other than MCU: Loki.
There's a series of books...dating back to the 90's. Plotlines for the two shows don't necessarily follow one single novel...they mix and match that along with adapt characters. Mickey Haller from Lincoln Lawyer was introduced as Harry's half-brother in the books, but different studios have the rights to each, so they created Honey Chandler for the show.. The earliest books were the best, but I never regretted a single read. The reporter on the show has two or three books dedicated to his character as well.

On episode 4 here and it seems kinda cheesy/bad acting so far. But keeping on for now
Seems to be more sanitized than the books...still enjoying seeing it on the screen. Never would have projected Titus Welliver as Harry, but he pulled a Robert Downey Jr and made it his own...always been a fan of his.

It will be interesting how it settles out when the Covid year players finally age out. Not just the extra year of eligibility and that taking away scholarships from HS recruits, but it definitely affected evaluations and IMO is one of the reasons we are seeing some many transfers between levels.

Good point. Forgot about the Covid year to boot! Not a good time to be a jr/sr hs recruit!
