He was an Assistant NFL DB coach not the DB coach.

i think they knew WM was going to retire which is why they didn’t do an extension…. They brought in Cory Robinson as an analyst with the intention of making him the new DB coach.

The second part is a bigger concern, IMO. He hasn’t been here long enough to be considered a traditional inside-promotion; he’s more like an EE coach.

The hire just got fired from Florida so the HC could protect his guy.

This Robinson guy hasnt coached in college for 7 years, and had a hand in coaching this years terrible DB play as an assistant. This is a terrible move.

Those 4 turnovers was not what got them beat. The HC got them beat after they got the fumble and played to lose

I completely agree with you. They (Vikings) were winning that game with just over two and half minutes to play, even after Dobb's 4 interceptions. Coach O'Connell called an awful game from a play caller's perspective and made worse decisions as the HC. He needed to run that clock down to the 2 minute warning but instead passed the ball (and it was incomplete) giving Chicago an extra timeout. Then, for some reason, after the defense was suffocating the Bears all night and forcing Justin Fields to be Justin Fields, they decide not to put pressure on the QB during the final drive. I was pulling my hair out watching that game. Dobbs was terrible (2 of the 4 INTs were tipped), but there was plenty of blame to pass around on the Vikings (Quarterback, Receivers, Offensive Line, Punter, Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator).

He could work out. I just think we could have gotten someone more proven. Heupel seems intent on "finding" guys rather than hiring proven commodities. The only proven commodity on his staff is CRG, and he was hired before Heupel even took over.

But my opinion doesn't matter. Guess we'll see.
