For sure, that’s 90% of it. But he’s not your garden variety bridge troll, he’s a full blown cave troll - it will take a concerted effort. If everybody will hit that little ole ignore button it will as effective as if @frank banned him. People keep responding and he gets the fuel for his fire that he so desperately wants and needs.
3 wins vs 9 is more than a QB. I’ll add Leonard was 2-3 when he was lost for the season. Elko coaxed an additional 5 wins without him. That’s the whole roster pulling in the same direction. Telltale sign of a good HC.They had Leonard as a true freshman, a little bit different than if Elko suddenly unlocked an upperclassman. But I like Elko, I just think he’s a lot closer to Stoops than the narrative is saying right now. Kentucky used to be in the same league as Vandy, and he’s pretty much maxed out their potential. He’s just stale now because he’s been there long enough.
This is how it will go IMO.Small is basically out the door. Went through Senior Day recognition and would be shocking to see him back. Wright will likely strike for the NFL while his iron is hot and not risk an injury by coming back. That leaves Sampson (Jr) and Seldon (So) as the primary backs with a battle for the third spelling back between Khalifa Keith and Bishop. They may portal shop a RB but they also have the kid from VA coming in as a freshman next year.
Duke’s also a basketball school…with even less invested in the football program. Yet it took Stoops 4 seasons to post a winning record. Much more impressed with Elko’s arc.Stoops went 10-2 twice in the SEC…..at Kentucky. 0 resources, very very very few instate kids worth a damn. Most, if not all of that money goes into basketball. I’m not saying Stoops is a great coach, but not wanting him and wanting to hire someone that’s about the same caliber coach is weird.
I don’t think any of their coaching choices were impressive.
Traylor, Stoops, Elko, just all meh. 7-5/8-4 coaches.
Agree. 7-5/8-4 at some schools is not same as at other schools. Elko's got a shot to do something good there. Elko will be more adaptive than Jimbo. Jimbo was stuck in the past with his system. As long as they knock off everybody but us I'm good with it.Duke’s also a basketball school…with even less invested in the football program. Yet it took Stoops 4 seasons to post a winning record. -Hubbs1. Telander -- not longer a freshmah. Has played a bunch. Going to be a good player.
2. Herring has gotten more snaps with Roman Harrison being out. Needs more strength, big off-season for him. Everyone like his upside/potential.
3. Bradley -- needs weight and strength to really give an eval.
4. Matthews -- slow start this fall. Struggled a bit with confidence according to some. Practiced better the back half of the season. I thought he might get some snaps Saturday and didn't. Still think he's talented and will be a good player.
5. Sham -- don't have enough intell to give an eval. Elarbee and Heupel have said they like the development of the young linemen. He was the not a factor for possible playing time this fall which is normal for a young lineman.
6. Seldon -- everyone seems high on his future
7. Lang -- he's the future at center. Physically he's ahead of where he is mentally of playing at tempo and all the ask. He's going to be green when he get throw into the fire, whenever that is, but the feeling is that he's going to be a good center.
8. Reddick -- Haven't seen much and there hasn't been much buzz with him. Needs to a winter of development.
9. Bussell -- has the size, physically looks as good if not better than any of the young linemen. Been opportunity for him this off-season and spring. Opportunity could be immediate depending on who comes back.
10. Duncan -- I'm still trying to figure out what his position is going to be in college.
And helluva recruiter with deep connections in Texas. His two seasons in NC doesn’t hurt him in pursuing prospects east of the Mississippi.Agree. 7-5/8-4 at some schools is not same as at other schools. Elko's got a shot to do something good there. Yep - remember that. I was right there with you. Thanks for hanging here as well.I can relate to this a lot…same thing happened to me over JG needing to be benched his sophomore year never to see the field again…I got flamed up until his senior year when everyone had given up on him entirely and was just ready to see him leave…glad you’re here with us today.![]()
