At risk of being crucified for posting what someone else said again-

Did anyone listen to the 247 podcast last night? McKee, Rucker and co. went on for a while saying we’re probably an 8 win team again next season.

If that happens, even if Vegas has our O/U at 8, what would the consensus on it?

I think the new SEC will probably make 8-9 win years a lot more valued than they are now. It’ll just be too brutal of a schedule not to lose a couple games or more for most teams.
I came out predicting 8.7 wins for this season, maybe a bit optimistic.

I ran my way too early prediction simulator for next year and...8.7 wins.

But like you said, these will be new times and metrics. Crazy tough schedule adding OU and NC St. 9 wins (1 being a big win cements it) makes the playoffs...so that's really a new metric to shoot for imo. Would be fun, but not necessary. Talent still funneling in and OL is a big (?).

2025 still feels like the inflection season the way things are happening. But I'm saying 9-3 next year for now 😁 I'll take a Bama win at home and 1 loss vs the group of [UF, UK, Nc St, Arky, Miss St]

I expect a few of those back next year. Does participation for sure mean not coming back?
Probably means theyre on the fence, but id rather most of them go.
Its time for the young talent to get on the field.

Spraggins, Pili, Mays, ONL, Baron..... are pretty much the only ones I want back.
Maybe Bru, but I think he needs to go get paid. Another year wont do much for him.

I’m not gonna fight with Pate about who threw the bigger fit over an awful coaching hire, but it’s pretty obvious we threw the bigger fit.

Edit: and it may just be because ours happened in the middle of the day and our administration seemed significantly less willing to cave.
I think the difference is our big check writer, Haslem, was in on the Schiano hire and our fanbase revolted on Twitter and on campus. A&M's big check writers weren't in on the hire and nixed it with the mighty pen and not necessarily giving the fans the chance to do what ours did.

Think Steelers win. Firing Canada, maybe their offense shows life
I was thinking the same when first looking at it but I still don’t trust Pickett. I went with Bengals for the extra juice since I was torn but it’s my least favorite pick. I did include two other prop bets for this game in another parlay though … for the kickers. 😂

8 wins next year isnt good.

As a pessimist I see 9 wins on the schedule, and steal one of the big 3 and you hit 10.
We really need a 10 win season next year or recruiting is gonna suck.

What are the seeding rules for the new CFP? I imagine it isn’t just the Top 12 teams with conference champions right? If it were then it’d cause a lot of SEC heavy playoffs in any given year.

I’m sure they have a token slot for the G5 schools to get murdered in the first round, or limits on teams per conference, right?
power 5 conference champions get top 4 seeds plus a bye...
Seeds 5 thru 8 get home game in 1st round...
All Quarterfinals and so on are played on neutral fields ...aka bowl games....

Sampson isn’t going anywhere. He and Nico will be featured next year.

I’ve seen posters say it during the season, due to lack of playing time. AP saying guys that haven’t played much will probably look elsewhere. Him along with those guys I mentioned haven’t played much. I’m speaking from that perspective.

I’m fully aware that he’d be featured next season.

Lots of variables unknown still like you said. Biggest one of them all is Nico. This is a game driven by elite QBs and if he’s what he is being touted as then take the over.
