Edit: Now CBS Sports is saying Stoops is staying at Kentucky. Did A&M have a Stoops Saturday Night that shut it down in 2 hours?

They'll have to give stoops a good contract, he has a good contract at UK. So many coaches out there and they have so much $. . . hard to believe that Stoops is their main guy. I wonder who all turned then down?

Agreed. You don't pay 100 million to buy out Jimbo and staff to bring in Mark freaking Stoops. The guy has done a good job.....by UK standards. He is a solid coach but is not elite at anything. He's not a top X's and O's guy, doesn't run an innovative or outside the box scheme and he is a solid recruiter but definitely not elite. He is average or just slightly above average in every way.

You don't bring in a guy like him in A&M's current position and especially not with Texas & OU coming into the SEC, Brian Kelly at LSU, Kiffin at Ole Miss and Hugh Freeze at Auburn while Saban is still at Bama. Stoops won't be able to out recruit or out scheme any of those coaches/programs and those are who he will be recruiting and playing against as well as Kirby and Heupel. Hell Arkansas might end up hiring a better coach than Stoops after next year and Drink is going to recruit Missouri well with the momentum from this season.

I would be livid to be a fan of a program with A&M's potential to have my team hire the 10th-12th best coach in the league. They should throw 10-12 million a year at Kiffin and watch what he can do at a program with their resources. The Kiffin/Sark battles would be epic. Get out of hear with Bob Stoops....that is embracing mediocrity.

Shoulda been more. The forced rotation of Small (I like small) was a bit ridiculous this season. Shoulda been 60% Wright, 30%Sampson and 10% Small. Gotta start playing the best players coach.

A&M would have had no problem outbidding Kentucky. Think Stoops wisely chose not to step into a wasp nest after seeing A&M’s fanbase response.

A&M fans were right to be outraged. Stoops wouldn’t have been an upgrade from Jimbo. A&M should back up the brinks truck to Lane. If he says no, then go get Leipold from Kansas.

Stoops is already making over 9 million/year. Can’t imagine they are ponying up more than that at UK for Stoops. And if they are, then he needs to quit whining about NIL.
