Recruiting Football Talk VII

Put this on thread of FF and wanted to share with where I do hang out. I am over it. If we would just stand up to this crap then I would feel like we care about more than money. I have never seen such bias officiating in my life. It can not be just incompetence. It is a good show but we are there for football entertainment instead of just general.
Just curious, where on the West 50 are you?

It Baffles me that guys like Addison and Reddick aren't ready to play. Did Elarbee just miss on his evals? Are we just taking bodies to have bodies?

It’s been said Nichols commitment to football is not as high as necessary to be a sec starter. Hopefully he comes around.

I expect it to be a 4 quarter game that we eventually win by 10-14. Way too many injuries and blowouts which lowers confidence tremendously. Plus, we have no leaders or guys playing with any fire.

We blew them out last year handing the ball off all game. Will do the same this year. Nico should play all game but he won’t 🙃

No one expected the team to repeat last year. Everyone with more than 2 brain cells knew the team would take a step back. My steps to rebuilding TN football was pretty simple, get to a point where you consistently beat SC, Vandy, KY, and MO be competitive with AL, FL, and GA. I thought we'd have taken step one, probably a little earlier than anticipated. If you judge this season based on that criteria, we've not achieved that. Not really competitive against the 3, disappointing considering how pathetic FL is. Obviously, completely dominated by Mizzou. It's not about the record, 8-4 isn't all that bad. I think most thought that was about right preseason. It's really about how those losses occurred. Totally embarrassed.

I'm 100% behind Heup but I have to admit doubt is creeping into my head. Hoping Nico fixes a lot of what ails this team. Joe's done a lot of damage to Heupel 's "qb whisperer " reputation. Here's to hoping Nico fixes that.

I'm done with the '23 vol footballers. Looking forward to basketball, baseball and the '24 football team.
A: Healthy goals are dependent on what we do, not what others do. In a rebuild, it's probably not beneficial to judge Tennessee by whether MO has built a really good 9-2, talented, senior-laden team.

B: I've never really understood the idea of being personally embarrassed by the performance of college-aged strangers playing a game. That probably leads to unhealthy and entitled thinking, like judging a coach's rebuild by the quality of team another coach builds. (i.e., MO.)

C. If most thought 8-4 was a good mark for the team pre-season, it seems completely irrational to mark it as a concern after it was reached. If they lost to a team you thought they'd beat, and still reached the mark, that means they over-performed your expectations elsewhere, like maybe ATM?

Part of what makes college football fun has been seeing what your team will be, as well as finding out what other teams will be. Look at that schedule and ask: "Will MO be a doormat that we beat by 50 again? Or will they be 9-2 and really talented? Will ATM be unwinnable as the recruiting would indicate? Or can we hang? Will LSU be too much for us in at their place? Or will we blow them out? Will Bama be too much again? Or will it be a shootout that we win as time expires?"

You set yourself up by judging our rebuild with an air of entitlement. Other teams field talented teams too, even if we think that the color of the jersey alone should beat some teams on principle.

Sit this dumbass down. Send his senior day jersey via the mail and send him on a Greyhound out of Knoxville
I want him gone but he gave his best even if we wanted better for Tennessee. This shows the worse of our fans. We should appreciate our players more than this. You sir, are a DA not Joe. He is just not a great SEC QB.

How is Will Levis doing today? Any big numbers? Any catastrophic turnovers yet?
I didn’t watch; but I just checked box score. Threw 2 late meaningless touchdowns but what was shocking…

19 rush attempts / 17 pass attempts.

How are you supposed to win football games when you only run 36 offensive plays??

Jags had 68 plays,
Titans had the ball in its possession just 38% of the game. There’s been worse, but 36 plays?

It was ugly to watch. Oline is ass and the secondary is just as bad too

I’ve been the biggest Joe supporter there is until I watched his postgame presser, when he threw his teammates under the bus and took hardly any personal accountability. I’ll be happy to show you all my receipts of supporting him this season. He is all bravado, no substance. Take a lap.

CJH dug in on this long ago. This staff values experience-- you see it all over the field. And CJH has been loyal to Joe, despite his inconsistency and limitations. I agree that CJH owns his decisions -- those he has made and will continue to make.
I understand and support the loyalty with some of these guys, I do...promises, keeping one's word, leadership, depth, culture. I get it, in these first 3 years. A foundation had to be laid; no better a foundation than the guys that stuck around, hung in there, worked...whenever this program was truly at its worst. They may not be the best on the field, but they proved just how much Rocky Top means to them. So, I get the loyalty to some of these guys, including Joe.

Going forward, however, to hell with experience if that experience isn't worth a fk. I love Heupel, and I believe he can be our next great...I support him, and the decisions he's made so far; but, going forward, if he continues to trot out players, that are OBVIOUSLY not going to get it done, he'll lose me. As much as I appreciate/love the Jaylon McCollough's of the world, the Joe Milton's and Tamarion McDonald's...I know I have, at most, 2 more weeks of watching them, but I'd almost rather tear my own eyes out before doing so. The only reason I don't, is because I've been addicted to the Vols my whole life, and because I do appreciate those guys, I do.

Joe comes off like he doesn't care if we are 7-4 or 4-7. Just going thru the motions

He is a college athlete…. don’t jump to conclusions over a post game press conference.

It’s the same answer every week, except this time he took it a step further. He takes no real accountability. Everything about him is nonchalant bravado. It’s why our body language on offense looks the way it does. No AUTHENTIC leadership by example.
