We’ve recruited better in the secondary than we have in a while. Just need them to develop. Martinez is the one who’s recruited those guys. Pruitt left us with a bunch of 3 stars. I said it last year, and some didn’t care. The roster isn’t the problem on defense. I’ll buy the offensive side is roster only because of last year. But defense is not a roster problem it’s a coaching problem. Mainly Willie Martinez who already got fired from here once for not being able to stop the pass.
We hired a guy who turned a 13-0 program into a 6-4 program in three seasons because we were desperate and his former boss couldn't convince anyone else to come here. We caught lighting in a bottle with Hendon, a QB our own head coach chose not to start over Joe in 2022. Last year was more likely than not the high water mark of the CJH era and we're stuck with this guy for another five or six seasons because of his contract. Get ready to be good again in 2031ish...maybe.
That hold was actually the right call when they showed the angle from behind. I hate to say it but we didn’t get screwed on that one. What happens if the refs don't throw a holding flag on Slaughter's interception? Do we score? The crowd was electric at that point. Could Wright have busted another long run?
That flag, like most calls against us this season, was a game changer.
I hope the SEC is satisfied with the "punishment" they've dished out this season. The team and the fans have been screwed over by our conference. I hope Sankey is proud of what he's built. Jerk
Banks is a DB coach….. he could easily correct the problemThe roster isn’t the problem on defense. I’ll buy the offensive side is roster only because of last year. Let's be honest, he did start Joe over Hendon. CJH's career at tennessee might be very different if Joe doesn't get injured vs WV. Also, idk the reason he doesn't play more younger players in a secondary full of burnouts. 3 4star DBs on the bench I think? However, he took a job no one wanted and has proven to be a pretty good HC. His seat shouldn't be near hot, but hes not above criticism. We hired a guy who turned a 13-0 program into a 6-4 program in three seasons because we were desperate and his former boss couldn't convince anyone else to come here. I’m not defending him. Your post insinuated he was fired solo. The entire staff was fired. There’s quite a distinct difference between the 2Martinez gave up deep ball after deep ball and lost us 2 Florida games and almost Georgia if it wasn’t for dobbs. He was a major contributor to him being fired and guess what. He was fired… like I said. Defending him is moronic .
Next season in cancelled everybody. We are forfeiting our games and will be joining a intramural flag football league instead.Next year wont be better, lets face it. We are losing 4/5 starters on the OL, losing our TE’s, one, possibly 2 WR’s depending on Bru. Not to mention losing most members of the secondary, DL, and Beasley. It is not going to get better nexf year
