War in Ukraine

LOL "they have acted on their reporting". Let me guess they reported that they acted on the corruption?

Which is confusing because our own government has "reported" that there is no significant corruption.
No they actually fired some administrators and it was discussed in this thread. And thinking back you offered pot shots at that too. “They are corrupt!” They take action to curb corruption after admitting they have corruption. “See they are corrupt!” If I didn’t know better I’d say anything they did wouldn’t be good enough.

When we start firing our corrupt people I'll give some credit. As of now in Ukraine my belief is people got fired for not kicking up to the bosses.

Oh no that’s not it. And you’re smart enough to know it. There has been admission from Ukraine itself as well as action … on the record. They and everyone else knows there is documented corruption. And they have acted on their reporting as there is a great deal of support at stake. Where as here we just have one highly salacious piece off the record making the circle jerk circuit.
the same way as they acted on their corruption when VP Biden withheld aid until they fired two or three consecutive ADs for being ineffective in fighting corruption? and the final/current AD has the same effectiveness as the original guy who got outed? the same current AD who has STILL yet to resolve the case against Burisma? this is despite that current AD getting bribed by Burisma officials, he rejected it, and he still can't figure out any corruption in relation to Burisma?

they are doing something to fight corruption just like the Dems always push for more gun laws after a shooting. they are doing it just to say they are doing it, not that anything is actually getting done. and the whole time just ignore their own hypocrisies in the matter while talking a good talk.

Nope not at all Louder. There were at least three named people dismissed that were pretty high up in Zelensky’s cabinet. Those are the major known ones. One was referenced in the article linked above about the over charging of food stuffs and other supplies to the MoD.

What they should have done in your Dems example is hang out an intern or two and claim they addressed the issue.

and they were 100% replaced by people with no corruption?

they were probably replaced because they were skimming TOO much off the top.

Lol. They were replaced. And frankly thinking back over the last year Ukraine has removed more high level admin officials for corruption than the US yet I keep hearing about our corrupt government 😂

Are you suggesting we don’t have a problem with corruption in our government?

I don't think you should extrapolate the level of corruption by the numbers of individuals turned in by their peers. it just as likely means the peers are just as corrupt, and the system is being used to protect itself. with all the instances of the FBI, IRS, being used to target political enemies its pretty clear the system isn't working as intended by the FF. a deviation I am comfortable calling corruption.

heck most of our corruption is just done out in the open. We have a Supreme Court member taking benefits from donors, has that Democratic senator finally left/been kicked out? Lobbyists, and pork spending provide plenty of "legal" corruption within our system.

Too bad. The sad fact is Ukraine has actually taken more direct action to address governmental corruption than the US over the last year at least even with all of us seeing the shady **** that goes on daily.

This guy has an encyclopedic mind on geopolitical stuff.

One can debate his analysis. And he talks about there being a western consensus in a way I've heard no one else talk about.

But it's an interesting take, if you're following the war.

Nope I’m highlighting the lack of a consistent dialog in this thread.

I think I have been very consistent as have you. I support Ukraine and hope they kill every Russian invader in regaining their territory but Europe should be paying for it. You also support Ukraine killing the Russian invaders to regain their whole country but have no problem with us going bankrupt in financing their fight. I also believe several Ukrainian, Russian and US interests are getting rich off the tax dollars we're sending while you do not believe that.

Pretty consistent if you ask me.

Nope. My stance (as you well know) is that if we make a commitment, and we did, then we need to own it. And welching on it due to inconvenience isn’t a valid excuse. And I absolutely see the opportunities for grift in these scenarios but that isnt a reason to welch either. We should have had competent oversight from delivery one. I know… I laughed too.

Don’t make commitments you don’t want to have to live up to then none of this matters.

By not attacking Ukraine we're keeping our non-aggression agreement so we wouldn't be welching on anything. We never promised to send them anything.

Nope, you really have to twist the language in the Budapest Memorandum (better known as the Budapest waste of time) to make it read the way you want it to.
Oh no. I absolutely don’t. In every version of the document EXCEPT English it says guarantee. When entered into the UN Treaty database it says guarantee in the French dialog. To try and point at only the US version and claim otherwise is twisting the reality of the situation
