The Official aTm (4-2) at #19 TENNESSEE (4-1) Thread - Zone Edition - 10/14 @ 3:30 PM EST - from Neyland Stadium - CBS

It’s every damn game for every team this year.
It’s inexcusable how bad officiating is across the board.
There absolutely needs to be a review process for them.
tl;dr
But they don't review/overturn holding, PI, or facemask calls.
I have no problem with reviewing the spot or targeting.
We expect them to see everything we see (because they are there), but we get multiple angles of HD review.
And this, after all, is still a human endeavor.

I think fans will be a bit more forgiving of a freshman learning and growing vs a senior still playing like a freshman. I trust Heupel though but it’s still frustrating and I’ll probably call for a change as soon as Milton messes up again lol
But fans deciding to be forgiving or not forgiving is completely irrelevant to the decision making. If Heupel feels that Nico is not ready in terms of game-day QBing, or would have a high likelihood of getting injured behind this o-line, or could get permanently rattled by going in too young, THOSE are relevant factors to coaching decisions, especially for the long-term growth of the program.

Heupel has shown good football sense so far. I'm willing to trust his judgment and that of his staff. The rabble can go ahead and howl.

This. Right. Herruh.

Jmo, but fans would be less harsh on Milton if not for the very outstanding bad decisions to go along with the drops, etc. The free play where he ran out before the 1st down was bad, but throwing it out if bounds on 4tg down was really bad. He plays better when we're winning in my opinion, but when we're needing to score, that's when it just doesn't seem he has it between the ears.

Well, I mean he was one yard from the first down and obviously should have thrown it.
But we did not decline the penalty, and it was 3rd and 3, instead of 3rd and 1.
We accepted that penalty.
Is that on Milton, too?

With all the money in CFB, it’s time to have full time professional officials who aren’t in need of other gigs to make ends meet.
I don't disagree.
So by professional officials, we get ones like the NFL gets, right?

Not really replying to this post per se, but when you're close to the goal line and are in a position to score a TD and an OL grabs a dam facemask, it is maddening. Thanks, Jimmy. But this particular OL was the same one who jumped offside in Gainesville when everybody knew UF was trying to draw us offside. And we're talking about a fifth-year senior. Newsflash: and it's not 78.

I agree: Milton is not great, but there are OL issues here (major). That is (and has been) the major problem on the O side of the ball, even though we are great at running the ball.

So @82_VOL_83 I'm not gonna say it all falls on the OC.

Pound the dam rock, play defense and S-T, and see how the season works out.

14-1 Till We Ain't
GO DAM VOLS

EDIT: SHOUT OUT TO HADDEN, WHO WAS GREAT YESTERDAY.
1st and goal with what 2 mins or so left? Other team has 2 TOs left. OC calls a pass on 2nd down then kicks a field goal? WTF planet is he on? The game could have literally been over with 4 runs. Where was that option that we saw ONE time? It's not all OC but he isn't helping at all. I think Milton is better or could be better than he appears.

Wasn't the facemask called on the pass? Right?

I don’t pay attention to the NFL. CFB officials have other jobs. For example, “Ref Beef” (so called because of his physique) is an electrical contractor in Texas when he’s not officiating CFB. He refs football because he loves football.

ngaft, but I thought we should have kicked a FG on that drive early in the game

I haven't rewatched bc it was an exhausting game to watch (more like they used to be with good defense)

Regardless of what coaches did regarding penalties, you'd think a 5th year senior would know to go for the first down, instead of running out short. That's my opinion, you're welcome to yours, but I assure you, I'm not alone in feeling that way. Should've seen the FF, they're still talking about it today. I think it comes down to what I said, if we're up, he plays better, and smarter. If we're behind, he panics or something, and doesn't make the best decisions. Is it all on him, of course not, there has been several drops this year. The pkay calling I have to wonder if it's actually the coaches, or they're limited because of Milton. I hope he has the game of his life next week and shuts every doubter up, but as a fan, it's normal to question things.

No, if I remember correctly, we lost yardage on 1st down, threw incomplete on 2nd stopping the clock, ran on 3rd making them use 1 TO, then kicked a field goal to go up 7. Run on 2nd and make them use a TO. Run on 3rd they use the last one. Run on 4th and we either score or they get the ball inside the 10 with no TOs and nothing on the clock. Kicking a field goal to go up by 7 was stupid.

He definitely needs to play smarter. I don't know anybody who would say otherwise.

TAMU DBs were grabbing the arms of Vol receivers before the ball arrived. That’s pass interference. I hope officials make these calls on Bama DBs if this occurs next Saturday.

1st and goal with 3:28, false start. Run and leave about 3 at the snap. Incomplete and leave 2:41. Run down to the 5. TO with 2:33 then kick the FG.

Run on 2nd and that game is over.

Ftr, I hate complaining about refs, but they have missed some stuff in our games, and we have gotten away with a few. I'm still chaffed about Squirrel getting body slammed in front of the ref, and he just stood there. So for that, I'm gonna be more critical 🤣

I did not notice where the ref was on that no-call, but that was an egregious miss. You mean the one on the sideline (theirs), right? If so, that was bad.

Take away the 1Q, and they didn't move the ball much at all.

Seriously, I am so happy with the way the defense is playing right now.
John Slaughter played yesterday, but still no Doneiko Slaughter, btw.

It wasn't yesterday's game when he got slammed, it was actually couple of weeks ago. I'm just mad at every ref over it,🤣. Our defensive line is as good as anyone I've watched, including bama and Georgia. Secondary tightened up in the game yesterday, but they could be a little better. Overall, defense is surprisingly our strength after the RB's imo.

They actually reviewed and overturned PI in the UNC vs Miami game in spite of the fact that they can’t do that.

There absolutely needs to be a review process….I’m not saying in the game…..I’m saying after the fact. In order to keep their job. Because right now it’s pretty obvious they don’t have to preform at a high level and can do whatever they want

Except a penalty made it 1st and goal from the 9.
Keyton drops a TD there

I don't disagree
but everybody knew they not be as good at their jobs, once they had the video "crutch"
They're humans. That's human nature.
It sounds like they set a precedent in the UNC-Canes game then.

The problem was it wasn't his first time doing that this year. Why is he running sideline to sideline and not turning up at least some point?
