If they are going forward, I think the best strategy would be to use the impeachment inquiry to gather information through subponea and anyone who balks give them the Meadows treatment. The Jan6th committee took 18 months so take as long as needed through this year and into the summer. Then come out and say we will postpone an impeachment vote to allow the voters to decide in November. If biden is re-elected and Republicans hold the house, move forward with the impeachment vote.

If the effort they have undertaken to date has not yielded anything, why do you think it suddenly will now?

This is just like the claims of election fraud. Make hundreds of false claims in scores of lawsuits and when pressed for any evidence, you have literally nothing. Yet in defiance and alternative facts world you just keep banging your head against the wall insisting that its true and .... still producing no facts.

From what I understand, by doing this as an an open inquiry led by the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees, it means he can move forward on it without having a formal vote on the House floor. Likely that also means even with the 4 seat majority, enough of the more moderate Republicans weren’t on board enough to get to the 218 votes necessary.

There’s also a side matter that he’s been having to try to get more of the hard-line members of the party in support of a plan to keep the government open past Sept. 30 (they only have 11 more days to get such in place). This is a move that might also placate that contingent when it comes to matters of getting on board for that plan, as well.

Yes, there are just enough Republicans in the House that have had enough of the lunatic rantings and ravings of Gaetz or MTG, and are embarrassed by this.
