Tiffany's Thread (updates and prayers, and a place where she can smack Joe in public when he needs it :)

We're going to try to do better in preparation for if this happens, eating and such. We know she's going to have to get in better shape, even without surgery. She's been so depressed for a long time she just gave up. We just got a bunch of chicken, and been talking about her starting to walk again. After a nice long talk, she has agreed to go to the gym with me. They have an inside track, and she can walk at her own pace while I work out, then sit on the couch, and wait until I'm done. I'll cut my time shorter when she's there, but surgery or not, it's a start to helping her. The Dr yesterday, and her nurse today said being on the IVIG is a big help for this if we do it, because they would have done that after surgery. So she's a step ahead there, we just gotta get her cardio and lungs better. It's going to be hard because of treatment 3 times a day, cause it makes her feel like crap, but she's going to fight, so help me pray she can do it.

It's one step at a time and every modification helps.

Exactly. I told her it doesn't matter if she just does one lap today, it's a start, and the better shape she's in, the better it will go if this happens. She was worried about people looking at her, I told her if anyone said anything, I'd just whoop them 🤣

"The hardest part to getting fit, is getting started." Jari Love

I don't know if I've ever heard a truer statement about fitness (at any level, for any reason.) For Tiff, any movement is 100% net positive, it doesn't matter if it's five minutes or an hour. The tiniest changes build on each other (you know that from the gym.)

You know her better than anybody, so you'll be a great coach! And we are all cheering her (and you) on! I'd love to celebrate her victories if she's okay with you posting her progress here (or maybe she'll do that on FB.)

I'll definitely post here, but gonna post on Facebook as well. She's been so discouraged, and afraid of people at the gym, so any encouragement people may give I think will help. I can tell she's really wanting this to happen, because even last year she would only walk here, she wouldn't go to the gym. Her agreeing to go just screams (without her saying it) that she's willing to do anything to help this work. She wants some normal, and I want it for her more than anything.

Remind her of this: people need examples to follow. There may be a son or husband at the gym who has a mom, or wife, or sister at home that needs enccouragement. They go home and say "Joe's wife is walking at the gym now." You never know who's watching you for encouragement.

When we were in Black River, Jamaica, Pastor Steve preached on the importance of "going". It's so hard sometimes. But his message was "God said 'You go'. And I will." I can't help but think of the importance of you and Tiffany taking this next step, not just because of her health, but because she is following the path that God is putting before her......like she has done this whole time! And how many people have gained strength because of her example?

You go. And I will.

Hi Tiffany. Don’t worry about what some others at the gym may think. You do what’s good for you. We know you’re beautiful and want you to feel and be better. 😉

Sounds like you received inspiration from a Richard Simmons video.

Tell her most people are in their own little world in the gym, rarely paying attention to others.

I do Jessica Smith workouts and in one of her videos she mentions we all have to start somewhere, don't compare your fitness level to the person next to you.

I just finally started running again, only a few times over the last couple of weeks. I have gotten very out of shape since I began working from home.

I have run marathons, but a mile is now a struggle. It is very frustrating, but I know if I stick with it, it will improve quickly.

She did it before, and I'm absolutely certain that she'll do it again! Fear of the unknown can be a big big hurdle, so she needs to remember that it worked before.

Maybe she could wear headphones with recorded upbeat hymns and inspirational music (a lot of the traditional ones can be kinda draggy, so look for something joyous with some bounce to it.) Even - God forgive me - Jawja fight songs or something. (*scrubs brain* aargh)

If she just can't get past the self-consciousness, she might try a YWCA, although the nearest one would probably be in a larger town.

Prayers up! Team #TiffanyStrong!

You're probably right 🤣
Only thing I can offer to Tiffany is something she already knows but sometimes it helps to be reminded, and that's to use her trust and faith in Jesus right now more than ever. Even with the little things like what a bunch strangers might think.

Lot of people are on her side.

So true. I can't imagine her feelings about everything, and I live with her and see how she is. As much as I've been scared, discouraged, etc, I only imagine she feels that 100 times worse. That said, not because she's my wife, but she doesn't waiver. She'll admit she doesn't understand, or don't like it, but she's firm on God has a reason, even if it's to encourage others. It'd take all night to tell how people have reached out from the beginning to now, offering help. I don't mean money, but with the kids, food, etc. She had 3 people call last night after I posted about it on Facebook, and offer to fly to California if she has this surgery, and stay a while when I come back. Not even church people, just people who admire her because of her faith during everything that's happened. There's so many awesome stories of people just popping up out of the blue, and telling her she inspired them to not give up with things they were facing. Her nurse, had a bad problem with alcohol, but has quit drinking and goes to AA every week faithfully, because of Tiffany. I'm not knocking her drinking, but she had a bad addiction. She said watching Tiffany, and listening to her made her want to be that kind of inspiration for someone in her life. It's been bad, but God has still been good, and not only blessed us, but others around her. Dang, typing all that put a lump in my throat.
