Sounds about right. The early 80’s were my breakthrough formative years in having an idea what I was watching on the field, and I remember wondering why Danny took such a scathing from the fans and media. You covered his chief sin…next guy up after a generational QB retired. He was an underrated talent who took over an aging but still talented squad coached by a legend who had to put his famous hat on micromanaging Staubach all the previous successful seasons. Sometimes the difference between great and very good for a QB’s career is that one break on a play or set of plays. Always wondered what if The Tuck doesn’t happen for Brady. What if EVERYTHING doesn’t go right for Joe Montana on that drive against the Cowboys in the NFC Championship Game? White did everything but win in that game, and with the stage of the Super Bowl and still remaining talent, they’re front and center and have a chance to string some legacy the next few seasons. Instead you have The Catch and what happened.Where would you rank Danny White in QB fame for Cowboys, he had a disadvantage following a legend in Staubach and remember he did lead them to 2 or 3 NFC Championship games in a row so he wasn't a scrub... Well anyway I got Staubach 1 and Don Meredith 2 followed by Aikman, White, Romo topping out top 5. I probably would put Aikman 2 thinking about it he does have 3 rings...
