So my wife and I have been discussing buying her a new car. Daughter just turned 12 and the plan is for the car to be hers when she turns 16. My wife and I agreed on a budget. I told her I don't care what you get. Just keep in mind it's the kids first car. After doing our research, and shopping around, we bought one yesterday. She tells me this morning she has buyers remorse and now doesn't understand why I am pissed

Awesome. Lost mine in 08. Congrats to your father. The man on my right in this photo took me to my first TN VOLS football game in 1971 when I was 6, I was hooked and have been going ever since. He is a diehard Big Orange fan and was a great player back in his day as well. The man is my Father and we celebrated his 84th trip around the Sun yesterday.

went and saw an ophthamologist a few weeks ago after seeing another an eye doctor a couple weeks prior and recommended that I with the surgeon. Both places ran the exact same tests. I was out about $180 for first visit and just got the other bill. Crap…$450 as he was out of network.
I am out $630 for a cataract surgery I don’t need at this time but was looking at some tuneups due to yearly deductible.
Wonder if I can call and ask for a discount as I was not given
yea i am fine without them like a 1-2 on scale of 4. i have 20/20 and just use readers. just something i was going to preempt as I meet out of pocketI look forward to my cataract surgery if inlive long enough. Those i know which have had surgery now have perfect or near perfect vision without lenses. I have been working outside for 30 years so it seems that I will definitely qualify as long as cancer etc doesnt get me 1st.
No she just felt like she should have bought something else.

If i was buying a car i needed to run reliably for 4 years followed by another 6 or so for HS and college....it would have to be a Honda. If you get a Honda and it does NOT run 200k miles plus without any major issues then you have terrible luck/maintenance and are the statistical outlier. Some say Toyotas are the same, but the 2 i have owned...a Celica and a Sequoia...weren't nearly as reliable as my Hondas...Civic coupes x2, Passport and Pilot. In fairness, the Passport was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo which Honda used while developing their 1st full size SUV...the Pilot. It was still reliable relatively speaking, I did have to replace the starter, water pump, and fuel pump/in tank filter...which is far more work than i put in the other 3 Hondas. If i could afford it, I would own all Honda engines/products from my lawnmower to boat motors to generators to motorcycles. They make the best small engines on Earth, and just about everything else they make is the standard for its class/type. The Civic and Accord are perennial "Car and Driver 10 best" and the Odyssey is widely considered the best minivan that money can buy. They are never really flashy...just thoughtfully engineered quality vehicles with extreme longevity.
I cannot speak about luxury vehicles from Europe or Japan..never been willing to make those huge payments. For "regular" cars though its Honda hands down with Subaru probably 2nd due to their reliability, safety, and great resale value
