That’s ok, I don’t shoot deer.
I live in Nashville near Percy Priest Lake which has a large natural area surrounding it. They are everywher. I take the dog for a walk in the neighborhood every morning, and the deer can be just 10 feet away, and the don't move.
I suspect you could pet one especially if you had something to eat, but they carry deseases.
If you don't have a fence you can't have a garden.
When I was a kid near Knoxville in the 50s-60s I never saw deer.
Some say it's because we have so few hunters?

Same issue on west side of town. When I had dogs, they scared off the deer at least enough to where I could get a decent harvest. Nobody in my household wants primary responsibility for another dog at this time so no garden.

Also, the deer at Radnor Lake are so bold they they won’t even move off the path when humans walk through. Usually, their ears and eyelids are covered in fat ticks.

Deer taken by hunters rose steadily in Georgia through the 20-21 season. The number fell slightly in the 21-22 season. Increase in deer population is attributed to a lack of natural predation. This is from the state agency. I’ve found no data on road kill or other means.

I have no problem with deer hunters thinning the herd and harvesting deer for their freezers. I simply said I don’t shoot deer.

I haven't in a few years, but I like the idea of a keg for a urinal
cud possibly reduce the number of shower pi$$ers
@Tin Man you got data on dat?
The last avid deer hunter I knew died in a traffic accident. He invited me to go with him more than once, but, at the time, I was a very active skydiver and would not sacrifice a Fall weekend when the forecast was favorable for jumping out of airplanes. He jumped and understood my reasoning. When his luck was good harvesting deer, he would share some with me or treat the drop zone to a braised venison supper. Now, if Iknew the right folks, I might accept an invitation.

I've never shot a dear. The hunters I know kill to get the meat, and I have no problem with that either. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.
I don't care for a gamey taste. Eat almost no beef and little chicken or any other meat. II had about 2 oz. of a pot roast the other day. Ate the carrots, onion and potato.
I Used to love to smoke pork shoulder or ribs in a BGE. Then health problems.
No problem with those who do.
